Optional Third Row

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
If people got over their weird aversion to minivans, the luxury of 3rd row seats in minivans would be recognized. The cavernous space in the rear of a minivan not only allows a comfortable 3rd row, it still allows far more cargo than even a Sequoia or similar large SUV could carry. And the fold-flat 3rd and sometimes second rows in minivans allows huge amounts of space when you’re hauling cargo. But people are so afraid of being seen in a minivan that they give up all of that for inferior cargo capacity and inferior 3rd row seating. I don’t understand it.

The minute an all-electric minivan comes out, I’m likely to trade one of our vehicles for it.
Agree. I tried with my wife but she insisted on a 3- row Pilot and it just the two of us and occasionally my daughter when she home from college. Even. 2-row would have made more sense

You don't consider the IdBuzz a minivan? Huge 3rd row in it. If VW offered it as an EREV, I might buy one over a Scout. As is, just not enough range. 190 miles at 75 mph according to Car and Driver. I love everything else about it (except the price!).
Kinda agree. They successfully modernized the look of that just like the beetle 20 years ago

Oh it’s a van. I think it’s super cute, but watched a video and they said it’s a great van and I was like nope. Don’t need a 3 row van. Ha! My kids are grown. If they were little it would be a different story.

I rejected it out of hand for the opening price (almost $100k in our area). I haven’t looked back at it.

Looking at it now. Everything is great about it except it’s still on the expensive side. I asked my partner. She said, “No. It’s a beautiful van, but it doesn’t have the range I want.”

She likes to camp and our camping spots are 4-6 hours drive away through charging deserts. A 300+ mile range is her bottom limit. I think we could make it work, but...

What do you think about the ID Buzz?

Did a road trip in a 3 row Expedition this weekend. As much seating as our minivan-and 1/2 the cargo area. While the back seat is tight in the Wrangler-it honestly has almost as much usable area (better cargo area). I know why my wife was afraid of taking the Wrangler this year (it was a 3hr trip, but last year we got stuck in 3hrs of traffic too). But we have vacationed coast to coast in the Wrangler - just a bit more sibling bickering in the back seat.

3 rows is great when you need it, but without cargo area it really is not great for road trips. We used to need 3 rows (and pack light - did cross country vacations with 7 inside-and 2 strollers). Now 2 rows is enough for us, but we tend to take 2 vehicles to have room for dogs. Only advantage a 3 row SUV would really give us is headroom to double deck kennels I guess.
