Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Your last paragraph sums it up. And the EREV is a great gateway vehicle. What SM needs to do is produce the 80/800 next as a smaller than 1/2 ton vehicle and go full BEV with like towing of 3500 lbs. Then those who love Scout or love lifestyle vehicles or have jumped into a traveler/terra harvester may be way more inclined to go full BEV and it would be like 5 years from now so perfect conversion timing
100% Spot On. The EREV will be a fantastic fit for somebody like me who is looking forward to the day to day EV lifestyle, but still has the freedom for longer trips to avoid any kind of range anxiety.

We would all love more information however given where Scout is in their development cycle, vehicle specifics are likely evolving and are certainly subject to refinement over time. Sharing details prematurely opens a big can of worms, Jamie has said as much. So for now all we can do is speculate which is what fuels a lot of the content on the forum in a good way IMHO. The lack of specifications doesn't mean nothing is happening though. There is a whole lotta factory going up right now. And interms of communication, Scott ("uncle Scotty") seems to be making the rounds with the media interviews and keynotes. I learn something new almost everytime he talks. This forum is another great example. I'm not aware of another community with the same level of manufacturer engagement. But yeah, specifics would be great and I'm excited for when they arrive as production nears.
I love how my nickname Uncle Scotty is really coming around in here. It makes him feel more like family to all of us.

I don't own an EV. I do have one vehicle with a small tank and dismal gas mileage. Going on trips with it does require a little more planning - but not a huge amount more. I have been known to take long trips - but I don't have much range anxiety for those. My only range anxiety is fishing trips. I don't know if it is practical to tow my bay boat 120 miles to the coast for a trip. I will not know till I own the Scout. But worse case, I can always rent storage for it. Plus right now - towing with the Harvester is questionable. Why the 5k limit?

I don't see the EREV as adding much for me - it is just an entire extra set of systems that have to be maintained. I guess I will have to consider it when the time comes - if it makes ownership easier, then maybe. It would be kind of like a built in backup generator I guess - but I really don't want another system to maintain.

The Scout will replace my 2008 Infiniti. At that rate the replacement for the Scout better have wings and fly😂🤣

Is a BEV or an EREV better when the SHTF? Now there is a debate that could go on for a while.
I’m a BEV reservation holder but I would think for a SHTF scenario the EREV would be better since you have two options. If gas is out you can still charge it, albeit not go as far as the BEV before needing to recharge and if electricity is out and you have access to gas supplies you can use that to keep going as well.

I just purchased (2) 50 gallon drums with low mount pumps. I’ll be able to go with 100 gallons in the Terra bed and outrun the zombies or whatever other SHTF scenario
