Interior Dimensions

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

A lot has been talked about regarding exterior dimensions and Scout has provided those numbers... But what about the inside...

With pre-production bodies beginning to be created (for fitment confirmation/validation), how soon can we expect until interior dimensions are provided?

I'm very interested in cargo volume for the Traveler. I'd be interested in knowing cargo volume with seats up and seats down (not including under-seat storage or frunk storage) and volumes for the frunk and under seat storage compartments.

Also would be interested to know if a 33" spare is fitted under the body, does that take away from any under seat storage capacity?

The vehicles cargo volume will be the determining factor on if I keep my reservation until the end. I carry three dogs and do some long hall road trips and you'd be surprised at the amount of dog gear one may need to bring for long trips... I run a hitch rack now for totes and always looking at ways to pack lighter and less every year but three dogs (50-120 pounds) with maybe a fourth soon, still take up a lot of room!

Thankfully no kids... Yet! :ROFLMAO:

@Jamie@ScoutMotors when can we expect some solid baseline numbers for the interior?

Suspect we will be waiting for that info for a while but hopefully you can hang on until they announce it. If you think about majority of basic 3-rows-Toyota Highlander, honda pilot, not Suburban, that will give you very good idea and traveler will be even a bit wider. That’s quite a special carry capacity so I can see why you want to know. What do you haul them in currently?

Is it the excursion in your photo? Traveler will be smaller than that presuming the older excursions are similar in size to your model
Not an excursion, the smaller version, expedition. Right now the Rivian R1S has similar space to the standard size expedition (it does lack some interior space) but also has additional storage in the frunk and under floor that the expedition lacks so it’s total cargo volume is almost exact.

Interior space is important but so is the additional space where I can stow bags and loose items that will free up interior space in the cabin.

I don't think final interior dimensions have been released. There are a few posts here and there where people have taken measurements at viewings. We can also get an idea of possible interior dimensions from calculation what is possible from the exterior dimensions. My wag is that at least for the Terra - it would probably have similar dimensions of a 1/2 ton truck (Scout has said it will be full sized). My guesses are weaker when it comes to the SUV. I think 1/2 ton framed SUV's have grown longer overhangs over time to cram in a 3rd row seat (3rd row seats sell, and companies are always tempted to cut costs and not have 2 different lines). Scout is going with minimal overhangs and not offering 3rd row seating yet. I am hoping the rear cargo area is deep enough - whatever that means.

The final interior dimensions haven't been released publicly, at least that I can find.

I've seen Cyure's iPhone dimensions on here but with these being hand built prototypes I don't want to put to much stock into those measurements.

I can stand to lose some interior volume if I can gain storage in a frunk or under the floor. In the expedition, we load a lot of gear behind the first row and really the dogs get the space that the third row occupies with the seats folded. The gear loaded behind the front row could find it's way into a frunk thus allowing for a shorter overall vehicle length.

I haven’t seen any posted interior dimensions either.

And yes it was difficult to get the phone to pick up a place to start and end when I was trying to measure the interior because of the dark interior.

I will see what I can do in SC with the phone measuring tool again. If there’s anything specific you all want let me know. It won’t be 20 degrees like in Chicago so easier to measure things since no gloves necessary.

If they'll allow a tape measure grab length width and height behind the second row and then the length from the rear of the center console to the back of the second row seat. This will give approximates of the prototypes at least. Hope will be that the final design is within 10 cubic feet of the prototypes. :)

Add in frunk length width and height dimensions too lol

I’ll do my best, but I have a feeling this is going to be like Nats where they will be behind a velvet rope, as opposed to Chicago where she wasn’t.

We know everyone is anxious for final interior dimensions and I will follow up with teams to see if we have anything we can share. The hard part on areas like the rear hatch storage or frunk, is that final mechanical equipment and sheetmetal had to be sorted out first. Once everything has its place, they can then mold the plastics to the remaining space available. So giving early estimates would potentially spread misinformation or leave people disappointed.

Understand, not looking for early estimates, just know that there's likely a roadmap in place on when certain things are due for finalization and the interior is likely one of those things. Is it possible to give us a date "window" on when that information may finally be known?

I'm fine with waiting but with everything in life, the sooner I have information in hand the sooner I can determine what I do with my current rig (keep, trade, sell, etc.). :)

Bring a real tape measure this time. And a folding ruler

I’m thinking a pale colored morph suit with scaled dimensioning printed all over it so when she sprawls over the hood or climbs into the trunk we can see the size. @cyure you did say just let us know what we’d like to see You can walk around stretch your arms and Boom, instant measurements! Problem solved
