Why did you have to bring the removable top up lol.I think this is just a topic people are hearing about since it’s been stated no diesel. Like talking about removable roof when that was defined a year ago or more ?
I’ve always said there should be a front page that requires new members to promise to use the search button before posting ?. That said, I’ve been on since day 4 or 5 (I think) so at some point everyone on here has been a “newbie” to me ?I think this is just a topic people are hearing about since it’s been stated no diesel. I’ve never been a huge fan of community forums, and I was following scout since they launched. I just only joined in last summer just to check out the forum and now I’m a permanent resident here lmfao.I’ve always said there should be a front page that requires new members to promise to use the search button before posting ?. Woooo-Saaaaa!!!
Actually you can. Jameson announced it today. It’s part of the launch edition. And there’s an option for a navistar big block diesel engine ?Wait I can’t get a removable top that will leak every time I put it back on ?
With the 50 gallon tank I saw.Actually you can. Jameson announced it today. It’s part of the launch edition. And there’s an option for a navistar big block diesel engine ?
To clarify, Jameson is Jamie’s Irish cousin and the special edition is only available in the EU. I just don’t want anyone here being too disappointed ?Actually you can. Jameson announced it today. It’s part of the launch edition. And there’s an option for a navistar big block diesel engine ?
dang I wanted it to have dual 12 valve Cummins with a 100 gallon roof top tankActually you can. Jameson announced it today. It’s part of the launch edition. And there’s an option for a navistar big block diesel engine ?
You’re cut off.To clarify, Jameson is Jamie’s Irish cousin and the special edition is only available in the EU. I just don’t want anyone here being too disappointed ?
I'm only joking, if anything I think I would have been the first one to take the oath of kindness from all my political arguments lo.I personally give you permission to call me out
Hey, it's fun to dream. And while we are on the topic.....for those into camping or overlanding......the best heater is.........wait for it...........For the love of all things holy, can we stop the diesel debate? Sure diesels are efficient, but they are smelly and dirty. I spend all day around diesel vehicles (over 100 in the fleet), and between filters, DEF tanks that brake or freeze, and a diesel that goes into regen to burn the crap off, they are just a pain in the butt.
Also do yourself a favor the next time you get gas. Take a close look at the diesel pumps. More than likely it’s a dirty mess (pump handles have diesel on them, spilled diesel fuel, and a cat litter like substance all over the ground to clean spilled diesel).
I’m begging- just stop the diesel request. It’s not going to happen!
Nightmare /dream ….. depends if you are the victim ?Hey, it's fun to dream. And while we are on the topic.....for those into camping or overlanding......the best heater is.........wait for it...........
A DIESEL HEATER. Sips fuel, easy to fill anywhere and is absolutely on the best options out there. It would be nice to fill my Scout diesel generator and my truck camper diesel heater at the same time. I can dream can't I?
I don’t think anyone is disputing that diesel is more efficient. It’s just not the right place in a consumer vehicle in the US especially. People avoid it like the plague because the epa made them scared of it and the queers rolling coal in their pickups ruined it for us. In any commercial or military application however they wouldn’t even consider gas. But in those applications you’re also gonna make your money back with the amount of use it’ll get.Hey, it's fun to dream. Mainstream will never go to diesel. For the same reason one group craps on EV an equally large group will crap on diesel. I personally will never use diesel because I’m prone to migraines and diesel exhaust is a huge trigger. Don’t have that concern with an EV or gasoline.I don’t think anyone is disputing that diesel is more efficient. It’s just not the right place in a consumer vehicle in the US especially. Banks power is making diesel hybrid humvees for the military with their v6 diesels but I’m sure we won’t ever see that. We can only wait until Deboss garage gets their retrofit kits out for pickups which will probably be a couple years… their test mule ram pickup is waiting on the generator and the electric motors I think, so hopefully this year we will actually see real world testing and data using a diesel engine for a hybrid.

An EV is completely clean in around 1.5 years after production. A gas or diesel is never clean. Also same for hybrids they are cleaner than gas. And EVs don’t create much waste besides the chassis and interior. Most of the electrical components are recycled to make new ones.Where in that paragraph did I say that “mainstream” will go to diesel? I drive a diesel everyday and never get any migraines so not sure how true that is.
Evs are crapped on because the amount of waste they produce just to make them. Saying they’ll reduce the co2 output is a joke. As much of a joke as solar and wind power. Also if you want to talk about how efficient evs are just keep this in mind… the power plants in Maine where I live are 45% efficient overall in making electricity (which is pretty good considering how much hydro we have). You lose 8-15% through transmission and then you lose another 23% before that power gets to your wheels in an ev. So evs effectively are 7-14% efficient, 20-27% efficient when we include regenerative braking, which thank god for that. A modern diesel vehicle is 55-60% efficient then you probably lose 25% before you put that to the ground so 30-35% efficient. Gas engines are about 30% efficient, so 5% efficient when it gets to the ground.
I’ll give evs the cost over a diesel but co2 production is something that is very much debatable
The other problem with ev is you have to charge it. What if the power is out? What if you're not near gas stations with charging stations. The scout vehicles are a great concept I think some people just wish, even though we know it’s not gonna happen, that they would make it truly efficient. It’s still better than nothing though.
