Ford’s future small BEV vs Terra

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

So talked to a client today who is holding for the new Ford EV small truck. He loves Scouts and talks to me about it all the time. His big reason for the Ford is he’s an attorney that works with Ford so he gets a great discount (and he has a Mach-e). Other than cost as these won’t be similar vehicles, is there something you think ford will offer that will make it better than the Terra?

I would imagine this new Electric truck Ford is working on is going to be about the size of the Maverick so I’m sure for some people that will be the right size competitive with slate or Tello, but for many people interested in the Terra they want a full-size truck midsize you get the offerings from Rivian and then smaller than that. You’re going to be questioning. How big is the bed size in overall cargo capacity. And for some people going with one of these legacy brands may not be a preferred option because they tend to do things people don’t like an instance was Ford. They overstep with the lightning and killed it or was GM and their constant removal of digital features, I have lost three points of interact ability with my car from the my Chevrolet app. Since I got the car or the biggest issue dealerships, I don’t think dealing with a dealership is worth it to some people.

Infrastructure. I know there are at least 6 Ford dealerships in my area, and probably a couple more that fall into what I'd consider to be my "Service Area." I know there's a lot of back and forth when it comes to who/where you can get your EV serviced in current day, but looking to the future just knowing that if my truck breaks down or has an issue I have multiple LOCAL options for where I can take it or who may have a specific part readily available is a HUGE boost for Ford.

We don't know a lot about what that is going to look like for Scout, so maybe the gap isn't as wide as I picture it in my head.

I can see people going for the smaller size. But in My eyes Bigger is Better, when it comes to Trucks

I own both a Lightning and a Mustang Mach-E. The engineering of these vehicles is fantastic.

I think Ford conceded too much ground giving up on the Lightning as a BEV and will be stuck trying to come back from that for a long time. When it's time to replace the Mustang, we'll consider a BEV Scout and a Rivian. But not a Ford. When it comes time to replace the Lightning, we'll consider a smaller BEV pickup, but not a Ford.

I would actually prefer a smaller truck than the Scout Terra. The size that Ford is promising sounds like it would be perfect for my needs. But, I won't get a Ford due to the dealerships. I have had to use several of the Ford dealerships in my area for sales and service, and have had a terrible experience at all but one of them. The Scout direct sales approach is a big plus for me.
