Looking over some patent info and I'm seeing a number of things. No idea what parts and pieces will make it to production-

Motorized bike rack for the Traveler roof that makes attaching a bike easier
Winch appears to be 12V
Roof racks with and without satellite antenna
Appears to support charging via the Harvester AND wall power at the same time with user-selectable percentages, or automatic if you prefer.
I see patents for both air suspensions (adjustable height) and hydraulic suspensions, the latter of which could share Harvester engine oil with the suspension system
Plug-and-play auxiliary roof off-road lights
Patents for toy models for both vehicles
Multi-function tailgate
Tailgate step
One-pedal rocking to free a stuck truck
Extendable tow mirrors
Stationary side steps

Surprising. Our Hyundai dealer is very predatory and other locals are the same way

You never know what’s going to happen. My one son is just as picky as I am when it comes to vehicles and he test drove so many. Towards the end we would just tell him what we wants to test drive and he would just give us the keys and say just bring it back when you are done. The car he ended up buying we walked in and the salesman literally threw us the keys.

You never know what’s going to happen. My one son is just as picky as I am when it comes to vehicles and he test drove so many. Towards the end we would just tell him what we wants to test drive and he would just give us the keys and say just bring it back when you are done. The car he ended up buying we walked in and the salesman literally threw us the keys.

Our Acura dealer was that way.

The Hyundai dealer I used when I bought by Ioniq 5 was excellent, and I have had good dealing with a few other auto dealers around here. But the local Subaru dealer was not very good, and I won't even go into a local Ford dealership again. This is one of the reasons I'm supporting Scout; they are planning to sell directly to the customer.

Yep Subaru dealer was terrible. My son was 19 and they would not let him test drive a car even if the salesman went with him and I was with him. They had some rule you had to be a certain age to test drive and I want to say it was 25 like renting a car. It was ridiculous.

They lost a sale that day. We went back to the Hyundai dealer and that’s the day he decided on a car and bought it.

And don’t get me started on the Dodge dealer. He wanted to test drive a Charger or a Challenger and we drove up in the Supra to test drive. They wouldn’t let you test drive those cars until you signed the purchase contract. Absolutely not.

It was really hard for a 17-year old booking hotel rooms, even with the company card. Most of my work was evenings and nights, so I had the days to myself on non-travel days. Nowadays, I probably couldn't even get into a mall without an "adult" chaperone. That was decades ago, but I'm sure things have gotten notably worse as the bulk of kids have gotten less responsible.

Car rentals and hotels are a hair easier but not much. My daughter is 21 and travels for sports and you really need to prep ahead to avoid issues but if college makes reservations that helps too. It really is dumb. Make it easier but require credit card and double the mandatory deposit and those kids that screw up pay the price, those who do t-don’t

We all know that Scout was testing Frankenmules (or whatver they were called) and that they looked absolutely NOTHING like the prototypes that have been shown (and represent the exterior skins of the actual production trucks).

The mule testing was for hardening specific components & a lot of stuff we can't see under "the skin", so looks didn't really matter. It's just another "phase of testing" that will lead to yet another phase of testing with pre-production vehicles that actually have the spec'd battery, suspension, etc. That version likely won't have the final production SW finalized before it starts testing, but it will be much closer to production and beused for QA. Then we will likely see everything connected and live in pre-production vehicles and we'll see actual spec's coming through based on configurations (Harvester, BEV, Tire/wheel combos, etc.). We still need to see Scout run through these phases of development to reach the finish line (and I am greatly simplifying things).

By and large correct.

The fleet of testing mules thus far uses whatever sheet metal remotely fits on our chassis - which isn't much from the VW group.

Since we only started stamping Scout sheet metal recently, the existing test mules are all ugly-looking test beds that won't look like a Scout Traveler or Terra. The next batch of test vehicles will start to use Scout sheet metal and look more like the concepts (albeit with camouflage on them).
