Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

It’s only in Europe. And even if it was in the US, I wouldn’t be able to buy it without a Fleet certification (I think it’s 5 commercial vehicles make a customer a fleet customer).
Maybe you can find 4 Canadians on the forum that like them and you could just roll yours over the border?

Nor will we sadly since there is no reason/incentive with emissions rollbacks.
Yeah, and half* of the population actively works against EV adoption (& renewables in general) because...reasons?

*Using half very loosely here since we have 2 major political/policy parties. Also knowing it's not everyone associated with that party, but: guilty by association.

Article on shift away from bland colors....

Speaking of guilty by association lol, my last 4 vehicles have been Gray, Silver, Gray, and Black. I think SM has a unique opportunity and is expected by the customer base to really offer some great colors and graphics options that I for one definitely plan to take advantage of.

Reuters: Volkswagen recalls nearly 100,000 EVs over battery issues

This article has me wondering who supplies batteries for VW, and who will supply SM with batteries. Anyone know?

Saw another comment on here about the 12/16V batteries failing regularly on other EVs. That would suck to have such a simple reliability problem! I hope all the electrics can be well-engineered so they are extremely reliable.
I've seen several rumors of Scout using Hyundai Mobis for batteries. Basically "no comment" from Jamie, so we'll have to wait and see for now.

Interesting. With a Rivian and VW partnership already in place I would think maybe a high capacity battery out of the EDV would be a potential fit for the Scout wheelbase.

I don't know if the cells matter much where they're coming from, but the battery management system will need to play nice with the Rivian software at the very least. Scout has said the batteries will be assembled on-site though, so I'm assuming they're partnering with someone in the battery industry to operate in the supplier park.

Edit: Just reread my link, and I don't know that I've seen it mentioned before what the two buildings in the supplier park where for specifically.

One building is the Battery Assembly Building while the other is the Accessories Building "to support upfitting and installation of vehicle accessories" while also mentioning a Just in Time facility for sequencing parts for assembly.

Ok I like the sound of this much better than just entirely "buying third party" so to speak. Surely with as early as they partnered with Rivian and with the new inclusion of Rivian's own chip SM can fully tailor it to their needs.

As a current Rivian owner, this is quite a comforting feeling knowing how good the Rivian architecture is and then going from it to a Scout will be seamless.

Saw that the Rivian/VW JV just unlocked another payment milestone with the completion of winter testing in various VW vechicals including the Scout. @Jamie@ScoutMotors is there any insight Scout is planning to share regarding how that testing went?
