Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

What the Frunk? Ford Now Charging Buyers For 2026 Mustang Mach-E’s Front Trunk

Sounds like Ford is hoping people can't do math. Take something away, but lower the price. Once you add what was taken away, the price is higher.
Many of the frunk fans think it's frunking nonsense. The people who don't know the utility of the frunk don't seen to mind.

With VW shifting more towards hybrid than BEV, and being short on cash, I'd be worried if my Scout reservation was BEV. I'm sure there are conversations on-going behind the scenes about total addressable market.
BEV reservation holder here. I’m really not worried. SM isn’t VW. I know, I know, but they aren’t. I think I would be more worried if one Scout was a traditional hybrid with the engine under the hood instead of a frunk. That would be two completely different manufacturing processes. I completely understand the EREV is more complicated, but it’s more similar to the BEV being underneath with the battery. They are still taking BEV reservations. I’m not going to worry about it unless and until the ability to make a BEV reservation goes away.

As for sports cars, married to a sports car enthusiast who drove manual transmission sports cars for 30 years I think this is more a sports car manual transmission issue than an EV issue.

Lamborghini is supposed to be pretty independent from VW as well... I'm sure VW is putting some pressure on Scout since they're still bankrolling the whole thing. Hopefully this doesn't turn into anything for all you BEV holders, but I'd be a little worried.

And part of having a Lamborghini is driving up with loud exhaust and revving the engine. It’s a sports car thing. You gotta have the burble.

I am just a glass have full kinda gal. If they make a change I’ll reevaluate (and my husband, who doesn’t understand why I want a BEV in the first place, will say just get the EREV!😹).

I’m just continuing with faith and patience.

Lamborghinis are also known for being loud fast and a Lamborghini. This new brand of scout isn’t known for anything besides reviving a legacy brand they have a lot more room to try new things than Lamborghini does.

Since we're talking about Frunks, what do we honestly expect to carry in the frunk of the Scout? I feel like it's a cool thing I'd never use. Maybe a cooler?

Oh I’m really looking forward to having one. All the stuff I have rolling around in the back of my Jeep. Reusable shopping bags, first aid kit, cooler bag, ice scraper, etc, etc.

I store all my emergency equipment (except fire extinguisher) in the frunk. Cold weather gear, charging stuff, air compressor, tools, etc. When we go camping, I might move some of that around so I can store things that I don’t want to get dusty but aren’t going in the cabin.

I was going to ask about that. My car caught on fire when I was 18. My grandpa was a fireman and he always made sure we had fire extinguishers in the car. I put the fire out before the fire engine got there. They were quite shocked when they asked who put the fire out and my little 18 year old self told them, me. 😹

Now is it before you don’t want it getting hot or for accessibility reasons. I really like the rollbars in the back of the jeep. I have Velcro straps that attach my fire extinguisher and first aid kit to them so they don’t roll around. I would like something like that in the back of the Traveler if I need to keep those items back there.

Come on. Why do we keep talking about it. First of all-Lambo making an EV is as dumb as Ram doing it. Their primary market could care less about EV. What’s a Lambo get at full tilt-12 MPG? Scout line and the build are set up to do both on the same line. If things swing in 9 months EV may become more plausible. So kill EV now and a start up loses 15-20% of there reservation holders.
The irony is once a week someone on the forum announces they are changing to EV. I don’t see anyone with BEV res saying they are converting to hybrid/gas. There are still a large number of buyers who want BEV but our admin has done damn near everything possible to kill everything but fossil fuels. As soon as he’s gone and we find reasonable normalcy the country will ease back into it. It’s the future so Scout needs to shake and shimmy a bit but they have the best of both worlds right now

I suspect everytime I go for groceries I’ll use it. Depending on how carry on luggage fits I’d use it for that. Lots of stuff I’d rather keep more contained then rolling around in the big open area at the back
