Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I've seen one being sold for a restoration project but it has been a while. I would love to have one. My uncle worked for Canada Dry for a long time so we were up to our eyeballs in ginger ale, Tahitian Treat, and Jamaican Cola growing up. I miss the Jamaican Cola - that was way better than Coke or Pepsi for me. Tahitian Treat was only good for ice cream floats though.
I have never heard of those other two. What the heck was Tahitian Treat?

it's kind of like Hawaiian Punch? Fruity tasting but carbonated
Hmm, i have never seen that. We have a soda here in Illinois I had never seen before. Green River. Comes in smaller bottles only that I have seen. It’s not bad. That was a new one to me when we moved here.

Ohhh is an mr2 getting announced on Friday. I keep seeing posts that a 2 seater Toyota will be shown in Japan on Friday.

I’ve been following this. Wish it wasn’t quite as edgy. Scouts success is simplicity and Toyota and Nissan could both learn something from that. Thought the Z is much cleaner in this current generation. Will be interesting to see what gets revealed on Friday. If they offer a convertible or T tops I’d have to think about that

My husband has said the only way he would trade in the Supra is if they brought back the del Sol or something with a targa top. We just have to see.

I'll be watching this one very closely. Even decades later, I miss my SW20 MR2. I enjoyed the FR-S I had as well, so if they can give me a proper, lightweight, mid-engine car with a solid roof (or at least not a convertible), I'll be very interested. My expectations are probably too high for this, but if they hit a home run, my Supra will get sold in a heartbeat to make room for this in the garage. I'm a Toyota guy at heart, but the Cayman has been tempting me in recent years, I just don't want the expense of maintaining a Porsche.

Article is a couple weeks old now covering Colorado but the bold break out quote is Fantastic. Paraphrasing -I read somewhere that 98% of buyers want a showroom experience.
ROTFLMAO-really-would love to see that poll/article and who sponsored it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Someone that has an interest in a dealer or two. That is totally ridiculous. 🤣

What year is your Supra?

Ford to offer eyes-off, hands-free driving system on Universal EV Platform in 2028

(from Automotive News)

LAS VEGAS — Ford Motor Co. said that in 2028 drivers of its vehicles will be able to take their eyes off the road as part of a new version of its driver assistance system.

It will also, in the coming months, roll out an artificial intelligence tool that customers can use in the Ford and Lincoln app before the automaker integrates it into vehicles in 2027.

Ford’s eyes-off driving system will debut on its Ford Universal EV Platform in 2028, said Doug Field, the automaker’s chief EV, digital and design officer. The platform will underpin as many as eight low-cost EV models, including a midsize pickup expected to cost around $30,000.

The system is part of a broader push by the automaker to “democratize technology” by rolling it out in mass-market vehicles, not just high-end models, Field said at CES.
“It’s become a part of how we talk,” Field said. “It’s become a part of how we focus our technology efforts.”

The automaker’s BlueCruise system currently allows drivers to take their hands off the wheel during stretches of highway driving but requires them to keep their eyes on the road.

Ford plans to roll out new hardware and software for advanced eyes-on, hands-free driver assistance beginning in 2027, also on its Universal EV Platform, the company said today.
Ford developed its driver assistance systems in-house, eschewing offerings it could buy from suppliers. By vertically integrating, Ford is better able to ensure high quality and bring costs down by 30 percent compared with what it could get on the market, Field said.

“Too many companies have outsourced the whole soul of their machines in an attempt to keep up,” Field said. “So we chose a more difficult task, one that primarily relies on building fantastic teams.”

Ford is “likely to use” lidar for its hands-off driving system, Field said.

“But we’re going to be very specific about [what] we’re using it for, and we’re going to [be] very prescriptive about the specs we need out of it because we own the full stack and all the sensors,” Field said.

Ford to roll out AI assistant in first half of 2026

Ford’s tech democratization push includes its new AI assistant, which comes to apps in the first half of 2026 before being integrated into vehicles such as the Expedition and Lincoln Navigator starting in 2027.

It will be able to help in multiple situations, said Jae Park, Ford’s vice president of digital product design. If a user wants to go off-roading, the assistant can note if the tires are overinflated for terrain and suggest which driving mode to set the vehicle in.

“It understands my vehicle, my environment and my context,” Park said.

Asked how Ford will get customers to use its AI assistant and not others, Field said it will “give answers that you cannot get” elsewhere because the assistant specifically knows details about the vehicle’s specifications and driver preferences.

“Every time we talk about the things we want to do in the AI system, we try it with ChatGPT and try it with Grok,” Field said. “If you can already get the answer, that’s not where we should be spending our time.”

Ford develops high-performance computing center

The automaker also announced a new high-performance computing center, an in-house module designed for its future infotainment systems and driver-assist systems.

A center that combines infotainment and driver-assist features allows Ford to reduce complexity and boost flexibility, said Paul Costa, executive director of electronics platforms.

“This really fulfills a decadelong vision for us at Ford,” he said. “By controlling the hardware and the software, we really get to democratize these technologies and make them available for everyone and not just the privileged few.”

Ford’s announcements are similar to those made by General Motors at an event in October, where executives promised an AI assistant at a future date and an eyes-off driving system debuting in 2028. GM at that event touted a new electrical architecture and centralized computing platform.
