Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
IMO marketing dollars wasted. This is something you do when you have cars that are available to buy right now. Instead you're going to lose a huge chunk of those expensive impressions to time, and time kills all deals. Imagine someone getting excited about Scout at the event only to learn that deliveries are 2 years away and they have to now step to the back of a 150,000 person preorder line. Nope.

Also the official automotive sponsor of anything kind of requires loading up the event with a bunch of service vehicles, not the same 2 show cars just painted in a new color.

To be clear, I'm all for Scout sponsoring this event...3 years from now.
If there are already 150k of us idiots willing to wait years, I'm sure they can find some more. I signed up here almost 4 years ago, and still have ~18 months minimum before a vehicle is potentially in my driveway. Will someone reserving today have to wait that long?? Doubtful.

Good lord I forgot it’s been nearly 4 years. I’d love to say it seems like just yesterday but it feels a bit longer than that 🤣

May be a bit early but if not events like this what events? Car shows bring out car enthusiasts which in theory doesn’t expand their presence so what type of event? Every event as of late is sponsorship with nature based gatherings with music and/or similar entertainment. Just wonder what is a better way to spend money but make outdoor enthusiasts aware of the vehicles?
Before we get to events we need to talk about unveiling and launch schedule. Blame Tesla for this new accepted normal, but I'd like to return to a time when a car is unveiled and it'll be out next year. All the ways to spend marketing dollars you're talking about fall into a regular launch window and not when you're just killing time building media signal around the brand.

To be fair, maybe this sponsorship was locked in when they thought the launch was going to be 2026 and they held on when it pushed into 2027 and now they're stuck with it regardless of GA date, so I'll give that benefit of the doubt, however my statement still remains that they won't get the same level of return had they done this with cars actually for sale. Great event and on-brand, but should have started it next year or the year after.

But of course we won’t get it here in the States.

A 4,400-lb GTI? Hard pass. Technology can make good numbers for magazines, but it can't fix physics and the resulting feel of the car. In a Scout**, I'm okay with that heavy weight, but in a sportier offering? Nope, it's about the feel of the car around me moreso than the numbers.

**I'm optimistic that Scout is talking about the vehicles having some soul, and I'm hoping they mean driving character more than the heritage.

The specs make this a gel electrolyte or a liquid electrolyte with neutral solid particles suspended in the electrolyte. Its chemistry is almost certainly LiFePO4.

In other words, it’s a lower density, lower specific-energy version of a much cheaper, standard LFP battery. They’re charging about $200-$300 for a misleading label and a BMS that allows an ~18 C discharge rate.

Unless you need the higher-amperage discharge rate, just buy a 100 Ah LFP battery for <$100 instead. And if you’re electronics-handy, you can replace the 100A BMS in an $80 LFP with a higher-amperage BMS for about $15.
