Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Surprised no one's posted this yet, but the Slate was featured on Jay Leno's YouTube channel. Not to suggest that people will be cross-shopping the Slate and the Scout, but, both companies are existing in the space of utilitarian, DIY, sensible EVs, albeit in two different segments. There are some interesting undertones to the discussions had in the video along those trains of thought.

Lots of buzz words that sound good, but when you sit down and look at more info from other places, slate is a pure gimmick

I think Slate will be a home run for local business types. Super cheap fleet maintenance. Perfect for starting a pool or lawn care business. Great for local deliveries.

Though I dont think it will be breathing the same air as the Scouts as they are positioned to be a 1/3 the price with far less capabilities and polish.

That was my impression from the video. The two reps doing their best to say as little as possible while deflecting Jay's somewhat obvious attempts to get more meat and potatoes information from them.

Scout appears to be chasing customers with a similar mindset but with a bigger checkbook, and they need to be careful to not fall into the same trap. Who really cares about being able to 3D print their own grille inserts?

The thing I keep coming back to is at least for this year if you wanted a slate with an SUV package and the max range battery you would probably still be at a better price point with a better range to get the new Chevrolet Bolt. It is a small SUV with all the buildings and whistles and better range and it starts under $30,000. The sad thing is Chevy has already announced They are killing it again.

Electrall is fun, but I'm not sure if SM could use it because it appears to still be a part of the International Harvester brand (though unused), which is currently owned by CNH/Case IH.
I’ll keep saying it until I get a cease and desist. I did check the parent and trademark office and it’s not there. So, maybe there is a chance.

I hope so!

It was a tough lookup since IH has changed hands more than once and there's not really a direct mapping for if Electrall is considered abandoned or where the ownership lies between companies/parents
