Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
They must have that information.
Assuming that everyone that creates a Scout account registers their multiple reservations to the same Scout account, it would be pretty easy to see... And if I was working at Scout and was really worried about "how many cars should I build in year 1 based on reservations", I'd be inclined to assume that every Scout account that has 2+ reservations will likely cancel every reservation over the 2nd (and I'd be inclined to suspect that 80% of 2 reservation accounts will cancel 1).

But it seems to me that if you are a Scout supporter and your reservations don't really match your intentions to purchase, you are kind of sending the wrong signal. It's great that you are giving them a $100 loan while they are working to build you a car you won't buy, but it is ultimately sending a false demand signal (which, of course, is a great marketing talking point for them which they probably appreciate).

Okay now this I could totally see my son buying. Look at the wing on this thing.

Back maybe 2013 when Subaru launched the Crosstrek I had a friend who worked at Subaru USA and he had one as a company car. While riding in it, we talked about how underpowered it was and I said it's a shame they don't do a WRX version. His response was "We should totally do one, and we'll sell a dozen!" It was totally doable since the Crosstrek was essentially an Impreza but the numbers didn't work. We then got into a whole discussion about packaging cars for the US, etc., but anyway based off that discussion it's cool to see they've finally come around.

You are probably pretty accurate. But I also wonder if the number of res aren’t even higher and they are filtering it down a bit to the public. That way when sales do start the numbers align better and look more solid from a marketing perspective. I grabbed the second res in case my dad or daughter wanted and my daughter really likes it but I’d say it’s 80% likely I’ll drop the second and only be the one buyer. Hope daughter does choose it but time will tell. Faith and patience I once heard someone say….

You know it. Faith and patience. Honestly, do we even know if they are filtering out those multiple reservations by the same person. 🤷‍♀️

The Crosstrek has been so popular for so long (wife bought one in 2015 and it’s been great) that I’m truly surprised they haven’t made an Sti model. Different wheels, exhaust, spoiler, and I think they’d sell quite a few.

I’ve heard Subarus big problem is having enough cash to build new compliant engines. The current boxers are just evolutions of their early 2000s models, aren’t they?

Remember, the the WRX and Crosstrek are both Imprezas. They could literally stick the already-compliant WRX engine into the Impreza Hatch/Crosstrek and it would work. The challenge is production capacity. The factories in Japan and the US are maxed out which is a great problem to have, also makes it difficult to do a project like this because you have to cut something for it to work...

...just had a thought. WRX sedan sales are not great these days, maybe Subaru is thinking of replacing the WRX sedan with the hatch body? Probably.
