Great share! A few quotes I found interesting:
Presumably US numbers. I wonder if there are major safety differences in battery packs sold in US vehicles vs abroad, the way there often are with crash structures?
- “only about 25 EVs catch fire out of every 100,000 sold, versus some 1,500 fires per 100,000 conventional cars”

The thing people don't seem to understand about why batteries are so cheap is that China subsidized their research and development. And we tack extra taxes on those cheap batteries. All the xenophobia and protectionism we have here hasn't protected us. It's made things more expensive and development slower. Trade restrictions and tariffs have never helped domestic manufacturers. Instead of using the tariffs to fund R&D, domestic manufacturers just stagnate. So we pay extra for a worse product. Yay!Great share! A few quotes I found interesting:
I hadn’t realized batteries were so cheap! Time to revise my tolerance for what’s included on a base trim. Though I still don’t want things like forced power frunk and liftgate. Put that margin into easy to clean interior and flat folding front and rear seats (also, suspension). Or a good quality base sound system with a sub (looking at you, Bronco!).
- By April 2025 lithium-ion battery prices had plummeted to $115 per KwH, and were projected to fall toward $80 per KwH or less by 2030
It almost seems like we should be subsidizing the equipment necessary to spin up mines and manufacturing instead of putting taxes on its import
- “With lithium-ion batteries the game is over—China already dominates 70 percent of the manufacturing,” she says. So for any country looking to lead the next battery revolution, “solid-state presents a very exciting opportunity.”

It shouldn't affect you. If i remember correctly. I believe it used a different starter.
We have a 2022It shouldn't affect you. If i remember correctly. I believe it used a different starter.

Its mainly the I4 2.0L thats the recall.
The I6 3.0L uses a different starter relay and system.

I think BMW is getting in the more off-road space too. Makes total sense for Audi to do this.Well this was FB find but worthy of Extra, extra!

Jeep Owners Are Reporting That An OTA Software Update Is Disabling Their Vehicles - The Autopian
An Over-The-Air (OTA) update to the infotainment system in some Jeeps appears to be causing certain models to go into a limp mode or otherwise fail to operate. The update appears to have gone out on Friday. OTA updates have become more popular recently as automakers try to avoid the costly and...www.theautopian.com

I am also installing more WiFi antennas in garages and outdoors by driveways due to failed car updates.
Some cars WiFi antennas are let say subpar![]()
My 79 Scout II has two cup holders in the original console or are you talking about older Scouts. I'm pretty sure my dad's Scout 800 with bench seat did not.So stumbled on a vlogger on YouTube that did a review at Ft Worth. While I was 16 when I had my Scout, so I don’t remember everything. But the SM rep said the original scouts had built in cup holders? Is that true? I certainly don’t remember that but know some folks will!
Also, seeing the close ups in the vlog of the new Terra toolbox-binoculars, axe and a shovel-sounds like SM heard about @Scoutsie and my “club” because, well-I’m not gonna spell it out butttttt, sounds like they support our “club”-just sayin!

They were showing the built-in cup holders on the new scouts in the frunk. The way they commented it made it sound like the engine compartment had them in the old Scouts? In the console was still probably cutting edge back then but just the way he said it was confusing. But the blogger also said Scout Motors is back-as opposed to SM is bringing back the Scout via IH originally having it so maybe everyone was just a bit off on the videoMy 79 Scout II has two cup holders in the original console or are you talking about older Scouts. Ah..I understand...but why the heck would you need/want cup holders in an actual engine compartment? To keep you coffee warm? If I'm in my frunk, I am relaxing.
