Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

And apparently Ford are sticking to the 400-volt architecture with about 50 kWh for the pickup hinted at in the non-announcement.
This will be a great fleet work truck for local tradespeople, but it’s not going to be a long-range road trip vehicle nor an off-roader.

Scout has nothing to worry with respect to competition.

Am I correct in thinking this is a Slate competitor?

I think that’s the closest domestic comparison, yes. And they’re both equally vaporware at this time, so it’s even more apt.

My partner would love a small pickup like this, but she has to make trips that are just long enough that a 300 mile range is not quite essential but much more comfortable in the winter when she’s fighting snow storms at freeway speeds and with 5000 feet of elevation gain. And it’s unlikely that the pickup will have a better clearance than the Mustang. So, overall, this is not a vehicle we would consider replacing the Mustang with unless my expectations are proven wrong when they finally do reveal the truck.

Absolutely. Maybe a Slate Killer.
Maybe, but only if they actually reveal the truck soon. A 2027 release is fast approaching and if they want an overwhelming response to it, they need to do what Scout and Rivian are doing for their upcoming vehicles. But they need to be doing it now. They should have talked to the Lightning team about how they did their reveal. They’re a big manufacturer, so they can spin things up more quickly than smaller companies can, but they have to decide to do so.

honestly the biggest thing is Ford's recommitment to the EV future. I love Scout and don't see myself jumping ship unless they have a generational bag fumble, but Ford has the weight to actually drive change and disruption in the US auto industry. While it doesn't impact Scout directly, it definitely helps widen the roads for EV companies in the future.

Honestly I was expecting them to announce reservations could be made, but what do I know.

I think this is true. But it’s also disappointing that they didn’t do for the Ranchero EV what they did for the Lightning and Mustang. They have the experience in-house for big, exciting reveals, and they touted this as a big moment. It is a big moment for the future of EVs. But it wasn’t a moment that excited potential consumers.

People were looking for the reveal of a new vehicle. A lot of the chatter on the Lightning and Mustang forums include disappointment in the lack of a reveal.

They said Model T moment. I was expecting something bigger.
