Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
....and then reengineering those same simple parts every freaking year.
Like door hinges, on my 76 F150, its hinges are simple, the other day it was squeezing and was and bit hard to close. So I put military grade gun grease on it, now it shuts smooth.

If it was a vehicle today, the whole left engine head would have to be removed, the serpentine belt would have to be replaced, and the transmission would have to be rebuilt. And the door hinges would never be touched.

Okay what is this gun grease you speak of. I never take the doors off my Jeep and now I can’t get 3 of them off. Those hinges are stuck. I’ve tried everything from WD40 to PB blaster to Krill Oil. No go.

And can I just say thank you SM for not making anything removable. 😹

I think a big part of the hate for the Mustang EV is that it’s an SUV. So many people felt betrayed that they took the sports car name and heritage and did that with it. I saw lots of people saying if they had named it almost anything else they’d have been fine with it and possibly bought one, but they hated that Ford was pretending the SUV could be a Mustang. It would be like if they took the Scout name and made the equivalent of a Geo Metro with it.
Valid argument for sure.

Any idea of how many at Buc-ee’s? My family will be hitting one next weekend in VA on the way back to college that recently opened-I’ll have to convince them to take some pics. Wonder if they will realize the benefit to having them. It’s still not a Scheetz’s or WaWa but it is a large chain fuel stop so they have to factor charging in
At the end of 2024, 30 out of 46 locations had EV chargers.

With the exception of a couple micro Buckees - every one I have gone to has had a bunch of Tesla chargers. Last year they were adding additional with gen 4 cabinets at most and some were also an adding a bank of Mercedes chargers as well. Gen 4 cabinets are 800v capable, but don't have the 800v back end to support them yet - I think the Mercedes were 800v.

I drove from Central Texas to Palm Beach before Christmas - I had to fill up one time at a non-Buckees (and only because I skipped filling up at Baytown because I had filled up in Katy - but would have still been close to a 500 mile gap). I think 2 more were under construction in that gap-so it will be easy to do San Antonio to Palm Beach by now.
I have stopped at a Buccees that has a Mercedes Benz 400v charger. Absolutely awesome!

I completely agree and I think it makes a statement to the current admin that the big 3 are still gonna move to EV and since tariffs aren’t helping them this is another big statement toward EV manufacturers
Even without politics, or incentives I will still drive EVs as my main vehicle because they are better vehicles for a variety of reasons. I know there are plenty of specific use cases that make ICE still very desirable. But, if all things were equal regarding charging infrastructure, price, and vehicle choice, EVs are better hands down.

Waaaaaaay lower maintenance costs.

That’s the thing that really has me considering the BEV.

I’m hoping we get range on different tire sizes. I really want 35s, I’m just worried on the BEV the range is going to suffer on those 35s.
I think I saw someone on this form do the math on possible range loses/gains with different tire sizes on Scouts. I will see if I can find it.
