Double charge ports

Consider putting charge ports on both sides. No one seems to do this. It would give options for chargeing in a garage especially when you have a pre-installed L2 charger and done want to move it. Could also help charging at a station too. Of course there's an added cost but the convenience would be huge. I think a relay should prevent someone from dubble charging.

It’s a thought but 15’ of wire and a port and maybe a relay (less than 10 pounds)and can’t imagine all that would be too costly in the big scheme.
I would think more of the additional cost for 2 charge ports would come from engineering, re-routing cables, SW engineering to support both charge ports, and double the installation during production on the assembly line. I'm not aware of any major EV that offers two charge ports today?, but could be wrong. Seems unnecessary given the way new DCFC stations are being set up, and most L2 home chargers also have longer charge cables.

I guess I understand the desire for more charging doors so it’s easier, however I don’t want all these extra charging doors on those beautiful fenders and quarter panels, but that’s just me.

The new Nissan leaf is getting two ports. One NACS and J1772 if I'm remembering correctly.

The only way it would make sense to me to do two charge ports is if they put a CCS1 charge port on the front driver’s side, in front of the wheel and a NACS port on the front passenger side in front of the wheel — which is where all tow-capable NACS vehicles should have their charge port. The underlying communications protocols are the same, so it would be more of a permanently-installed adapter. The adapter is going to be required anyway, and a permanent one seems better.

But an interlock would be necessary, it would require extra high-voltage wiring, etc., and the price starts to climb.
 
It does. NACS on one side, J1772 on the other. However, the NACS is DC-only. A level 2 charger means using the J1772 port.
That is an odd choice. I suppose it may be sort of a legacy because the old model had chademo for dc charging so it had to have separate dc and ac charge ports. Seems like a waste though.
