Door lock keypad

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
It will be great to have a lock keypad so you can lock your keys inside as you go surf, mountain bike, scuba dive and more. That way you won't lose your keys and have access into the car.
There’s an Activity wristbands that have been brought up a few times, please use the search bar prior to posting.

Personally, I find the keypad to be a convenient feature, eliminating the need to carry a separate key. My previous Lincoln vehicles have incorporated a concealed keypad located within the driver’s door b-pillar. A gentle touch activates the keypad, illuminating it. When keys are inserted into the center console and the keypad is utilized to lock the vehicle, it simultaneously locks the console and deactivates the key fob.

I’ve always liked this idea but refrigerators have buttons that are similar and eventually those wear out and fail. What happens when that happens on a vehicle. It would look terrible. I’d rather just a simple finger print. That said I still carry a few keys for daily-ish needs so a fob suits me fine

Phone as key is my go to…especially if Scout app would also function on smart watches:) I’m also not a keypad fan. The credit card style backup is nice…fobs are so bulky!

I’ve always wondered about those cars and trucks with the numeric keypads! I like the idea of being able to safely lock your keys inside (or not needing them because keys are SO OVER), but I also like proximity key-things and Touch ID and retinal scans and all of the sci-fi stuff that the future promised to me in the past via movies and TV. I mean, I don’t specifically want someone to knock me unconscious so that they can steal my thumbprint and my theoretical future Scout, but it’s cool in the movies.

Also, it warms my heart to see the ratio of gal forum members to guy forum members increase. Welcome!!! ?

The b-pillar keypad is really a small touch screen area that appears, no buttons. I have been using these for some 9 years without showing any ware or failure. Pretty robust. Of course your mileage may vary.

Welcome. Fellow woman here. So glad to see more of us making our views known. The Scout needs to appeal to men and women alike. In my house I do the car shopping. My husband picks what he wants but hates dealing with those people. I get the deal done and he literally shows up to sign paperwork.

I used Phone As A Key for a while. However, I have a workshop in my garage I spend a lot of time in and I found the the constant conversation between my phone in my pocket and the car was killing my phone battery. I decided I could do without PAAK and turned it off.

Absolutely need retina scan! ?

That would be sick for scout to do. Maybe a titanium or brushed aluminum ring. One for men and a thinner styled one for women.
That works too. I went to silicone because I’m older and my fingers have puffed a bit and tight.
FYI-never buy a titanium ring. In an accident situation medical responders have no tools that can cut titanium which makes for higher risk of an amputation of your ring finger. I was set on titanium after I lost my first wedding band and jeweler told me that

Huh, who would have thought about that for titanium rings. So maybe a silicone and aluminum ring then.

Yeah, they can’t be resized: I bought a new one after I lost a significant amount of weight. The nice thing about titanium is that they’re unbreakable, so if you’re into the symbolism of the unbreakable bond, that’s kind of neat. It just sucks when you get divorced. It’s fine: his new wife gained the weight I lost. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t body shame except she has it coming.

My only problem with keypads in general I that the numbers wear out or get shiny and it doesn't take many uses before anyone can tell which numbers are part of the most used code. A scramble pad, or even a glass touch pad can fix that issue. The keypad along with very solution mentioned in this thread sounds awesome.

This would be a great feature. Nothing to carry with you. I have had it on previous vehicles and loved it!!
