Concern about the complexity and cost of repairs/maintenance for EREV

Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. That's nothing - Japanese engineers rationalized dropping the 2.5L 4cyl turbo engine on my 2005 Outback 2.5XT to change the spark plugs, simply because they wanted to advertise the "Boxer engine" and its lower center of gravity. So that cost $450 in labor to change four $10 spark plugs.

I'll take the risk of a failed water pump once in a blue moon over the mandatory regular maintenance of spark plug replacement, which should be able to be done in your garage without a lift.
Don't they have to drop the engine on Subaru's no matter what the maintenance is? My uncle has two and they drop the engine even for an oil change. Its really crazy that entire concept.

Every car has something wonky. My brothers Ram truck had some sort of leaking valve issue, if I’m remembering correctly, and he sent me pictures from his mechanic with the cab of his truck completely removed.
Most trucks when in for a routine 60k service or any service gets the cab removed its like standard practice since the engine bays are so small nowadays. My 76' has so much room under the hood I can live in there it's amazing.

But yes pretty almost every vehicle in todays world has an issue within the first year of ownership. But it gets resolved and then you move on. And most issues are because of poor quality parts. But if the supplier is giving good parts for the right money you're normally in the clear. Unless a recall happens.

I believe it - they are telling me the cab comes off/up to do the wet belts on my f150 diesel and that’s why it’s over 5k!
