What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
As others have may have mentioned, a modular tire carrier for Terras with the harvester with no under-bed mounting option would be great, but might necessitate some bedside stiffening to accommodate heavy wheels or Jerry cans. For me, a platform that allows for different accessory loadouts for overlanding, mountain biking, skiing or the activity du jour would be amazing considering the aftermarket might take some time to catch up.
That timing will definitely be interesting as Scout has said how modular they want options to be so guess it depends on how early companies making racks, accessories, etc. get measurements, etc… to start producing. Scout presumably wants its focus on vehicles so maybe the Thule’s and Nakima’s of the world get early “access” so they can design and produce accessories?

Very interesting indeed, I hope it will be like the Toyota and Jeep aftermarket where options for swingout bumpers, rock sliders and armor are numerous, and available immediately after every bodystyle update.

I'd like to see certain electronic modules designed for easy changes/upgrades as tech changes. Specifically, I'm thinking of the WiFi module and GPS module, but the main infotainment CPU/RAM/HD also comes to mind.

Much like how old navigation upgrade disks or reflashes were an option to keep your vehicle more up-to-date, I'd like Scout to offer modules in the future that can be changed out and the system reflashed OTA or in-person for the upgraded module to keep the vehicle more functional, decades into the future. Software-defined vehicles are at an inherent disadvantage due to how quickly tech moves.

At a minimum, use standardized parts and connectors that can be upgraded by the aftermarket in the future. 5G is all the rage right now, but 6G will be here in a few years. By 2035, we'll probably see 5G networks begin retiring and then what? We rely on a mobile hotspot on our phones?

Same with GPS. It's not secure and more spoofing attacks are happening. I'd like an option for a more secure GNSS positioning system when GPS craps out.

Full-disclosure: I'm a little pissed about tech in cars after my last operational music app (Pandora) in my 10-year old car is no longer compatible with the newest releases and it can't be upgraded.

Probably good news in that it appears as though Scout has a headstart based on what we have seen and all of this can come from the aftermarket more easily based on how we have seen Scout playing around with Molle panels & accesories. At least most of that stuff is already standardized based on having even hole spacing - meaning if Scout provides mounting holes in likely accessory areas, that would be great. And maybe T-Slots in channels for a standardized hardware size (like M6 or M8 T-nuts).

With the suppliers and scale Scout will have, I can't imagine they couldn't undercut most of the aftermarket in pricing on some of these accessories. I'd love to see reasonably-priced accessories directly from Scout, being made here in the US. Heck, look at what people spend on aftermarket parts for Toyota, Jeep, Bronco, etc. If they can get in on that market at a price equal to or less than much of the aftermarket can do, they should flex that muscle and bring in the $$$.

No doubt - and sounds like they are doing that. But that won't stop other companies from developing other cool stuff that Scout will never (and should never develop) on their own. It would be foolish for Scout to build RTT's, for example. If they partner with a reputable builder, they could certainly customize and sell them with a Scout logo and white-label a bunch of good stuff. Maybe since these things are built specifically for Scout's ownership base, we save a few dollard buying direct from the Scout accessory barn and get perfect fitment.

Nothing better than a tailgate or truck bed seat at a drive-in movie too! We did Jaws on the outer cape at the Wellfleet drive-in with 4 beach chairs in the bed of my truck with our boys for the anniversary showing.

BTW, the aftermarket alredy has some great options for us truckers - even for specialty use-cases like mountain biking and aprea MTB'ing:

R1TVT - I know drive in theaters are a dying breed but we still have one and it's very popular. The major problem is most modern vehicles won't allow true "accessory mode" like "back in the day" when you turned the key backward. Scout could FIX that, assume we're not numbskulls, and allow us to just power the radio and some accessory outlets - no headlights or other annoying things that disturb the other drive in movie goers! It fits right in with their model of blending the past with the future! Or maybe I want to pull up to a bonfire and listen to the Sirius XM radio that I subscribe to? Let me put it in "accessory mode" or "drive in mode" whatever they want to call it, roll down the windows and share your tunes with the group. Are we really asking for too much? And the tailgate seats are interesting concept but can I walk on them when they are not in use? Assuming they are folded into the tailgate itself?

I don't think that is asking for too much and Scout has already previewed some of this.

For example, CAMP MODE or DETOX mode (one of the terms Scout has used) allows for this type of "dimmed-down" experience right from the U/I.

Here's what Rivian did for reference (with an OTA) - I would expect this straight out of the gate from Scout:

I asked that very question to the staff at the 'Head of the Charles Regatta" event. They told me they are talking with accessory suppliers.
It makes sense when you think about it. Hard core Scout fans and many newly created fans of the Scout legacy will absolutely want to kit out the vehicle to their specific needs and desires. No car company can possibly create or even think up all of the possibilities out there. Hopefully Scout future proofs the vehicles at the factory so accessories and mods can be done after the fact.
I asked if the trucks were going to have a built in air compressor like the Rivian R1's. He pointed to the outlet port in the front trunk. But then he said they are still figuring out if the engineering and supply logistics of making it happen would be ready by the time of the launch. I said "well if Scout can not include the compressor in time, at least have a mounting bracket and electrical connections installed at the factory so it could be relatively easy to add in the future". He agreed that was a good point.
