I’m not sure if this post works, but I uploaded two short videos one of the blazer opening, and one of the hornet closing, it wouldn’t open for me until I stoped recording but it having touchless closing is really what I wanted to showcase anyway
They followed Tesla here. Although Tesla lets you disable the feature when at home. I found it too sensitive and disabled it completely for the reason you stated. I would prefer the kick mechanism - my Volvo XC40 Recharge had it and it worked well (but Tesla is allergic to ultrasonic sensors).
The remote to date that’s been shown has a front and rear button so presume both will be remote operation
Nothing noted on this but I would call that hands free not automatic. But just my take as I presumed automatic meant key fob as well
Is it a quick/smooth operation? Our Acura had it as well as Honda and you had to hit an exact sweep/location to get it to work. Hoping scouts have it for frunk but 99% sure back will not work with the swing gate especially with a carrier attached
I forgot there was a conceptual key fob… and gotta say after googling to take a look again, that’s a really nicely designed one.
Yeah. There is at least two designs. One was leather and other was parachord if I recall. Too lazy to look up but both are nice. It clearly showed front and rear but curious how it works if you have the carrier. Assume something blocks the signal to prevent it from opening. Just remember it was weird seeing front and back buttons.
A State of Charge video about the new Powerup stations. Good things like dual CCS/NACS ports, swipe/tap to pay, pull-through, and canopy stations. Missing some things at the first site, but that’s a lot of good for their first site.
Yea, it was the same fob just with different material attached, but you’re correct.
Has there been word that the tire carrier specifically will NOT be powered? If it was, then I guess theoretically that fob button could still work. It could also explain part of the reason why the tire carrier is said to not be a removable item.
So guess if I get the tire carrier the rear hatch button on fob will be useless
The blazer, It works as expected 90% of the time, I can’t tell what causes the other 10% but I think it has to do with if it was just opened or the car unlocked by the “passive” buttons on the handles I do wish if it started its count down and I step out of bounds and immediately back in it would understand I want it closed instead of restarting the beeps.
The hornet, works 98% of the time with almost the entire width under the bumper working for the sensor, and it’s only detected a bag as a leg once, overall very pleasantly surprised with it’s operation
That’s great to hear. Well guess if Scout does offer it I hope it functions more like the hornet and cooperates 98%
Yeah, the kick sensor in my opinion is just better. For personal classification, I consider liftgate with button-based operation to be powered because they are, but the button means that they are manual in a sort of way, and I consider any operation that does not require direct input automatic. By my classifications, the Blazer is automatic up or at least it can be. The hornet is somewhere in the middle because while you don't have to touch anything, you do have to give input and that alone makes it better because it removes the constant accidental opening that the Blazer can have and the fact that you can do the same thing to close. It is just as important. I think GM had the right intention when you approach your vehicle with your arms loaded. Being able to get in it to put stuff down is important but sometimes you will walk away with your arms full too and you might not be able to stretch up to press the close button on the underside of the gate panel and there is no automatic down offered. So if scout does offer some sort of option for hands-free frunk operation, I think a good kick sensor would be the way to go
Our Pilot was both up and down but was finicky. I think the new Lexus is up only
I called my local Chevy dealer to schedule for a potential software update since my car said it had an update when I picked it up and when I got home and attempted to do the update, it said it failed rebooted the info entertainment and then now it says there’s no update and it was last updated in March. A little bit of research says that if that happens, there might still be an update contacted dealer and have them do it in their service center. A little bit of research has also given me conflicting information on whether or not the 24 model RS is capable of being updated to android automotive 14 as the car is still running 12 I have seen a lot of people say it’s not and I have seen several people say that it is so when I called the dealer to schedule a service the lady was not willing to just schedule me until I spoke to their service specialist who should’ve been able to put in my VIN number and see if my car has any available updates on anything I talked to the guy. He says that I will have to talk to somebody when I bring it in to go ahead and schedule, but the annoying thing that happened was when I was explaining to him that there was an update and it said it failed. He felt the need to tell me that these vehicles are incapable of receiving Apple CarPlay. I said nothing to him about Apple CarPlay just that it is running android automotive and I wanted to know if it could be updated from 12 to 14.
Direct dealers, no sales people-come on, NADA says they add value and are critical to the buying process. Say it isn’t so….
