Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Actually - I would be VERY surprised to see something like that on a Rivian TBH.

Also, don't forget that there a bunch of Rivian owners here with Scout reservations who would actually love to see BOTH companies succeed.

Even though I own an R1T, I see myself personally as having more Scout DNA and aligning well with the Terra. Not knocking my R1T either - it has been the best truck I have ever owned, and I have owned a lot of them!
That’s the part I don’t get.

Not only are the financially married companies, RJ Scaringe has always been very firm on his message of MANY Electric Vehicle manufacturers being required for them to be a viable option in the future.

People need choices that align with their values and lifestyles.

Cheering for the collapse of one of them can cause a domino effect that wipes even more of them out by stock sell offs and legislation targeting the industry.

People need to grow up and stop treating every facet of their life like a football game.

This seems to be a consistent message.

And I don’t see it changing. I also think that is why SM should launch BEV because once you go EV you don’t go back and if you get those open minded buyers and folks who can manage BEV with regional charging you likely have those buyers for life.

All he did was Gave More Cash
It’s one thing to love a brand and be enthusiastic but another to cheer perceived failure. That said many of us are Scout enthusiasts and we are pretty hard on some of the other brands (Slate comes to mind) but I guess we aren’t wishing failure, just dinging the design and potential upsell approach since it is bare bones starter EV.
And to another similar point. Slate has noted they are pushing 200K reservations and scout has to be pushing 175K so not sure why the social media naysayers keep saying EVs are undesirable?

It seems to be the American way these days

The Rivian sub Reddit seems to be celebrating this story for some reason.

Any concerns about authenticity of sources are downvoted.
Yeah I saw that. They are celebrating because they view scout as the Rivian killer. Meanwhile they are both targeting a completely different market. One luxury, the other the average man/woman.

They need to touch grass instead of hoping for Scouts down fall. Meanwhile the factory is still moving along, line workers are being hired. All things that were mapped out in the holiday video from two years ago. Seems to be on track to me!

Thanks Jamie!

Okay everyone stand down. We have the official word from SM. Nothing has changed. Back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Who wants a whole hour dedicated to how great PBY is and why? Huh huh? Any takers???
I just want to say I appreciate your diligence on the matter of PBY. Maybe I should employ similar tactics for tow mirrors.

RJ has always preached he is for more choices in EV brands. He is certainly not wanting Scout to fail.

I blame social media for this. Everything gets an instant reaction, rebuttal, reaction video, breakdown, deep dive, whatever. There's always a winner and a loser whether its politics, sports, technology, cars, stocks, TV shows. And your team Winning is the only thing that matters.

Someone I know says "There's a reason Baskin-Robbins has 31 flavors."

It's okay to like something different than someone else.

YES! This, exactly this! That’s why I keep saying, I hope everyone gets what THEY want!

Yep, agreed. I believe humans are intrinsically lazier and more brainwashed than ever before.

I also blame all the complete suckers for clicking into stuff like this all day long... Just Don't do it! 🫣

Hopefully, there's still a chance we can return to an age of critical thinking (or at least "critical thinking on top of A/I"). LOL

And I’m so tired of the captions that say, “I just found the viral (insert product name here)”. If you have to tell people it’s viral, it isn’t.

And don’t get me started on the influencers that do the finger taps on products. Nope, pass.
