Charge port at front, passenger side

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Please don't fall for the hype about the rear driver side being the best place for the charge port. It's far more useful to have it at the front passenger side.
It still makes it easy to use the NACS chargers with their super short cables. With it being in the front passenger, only one NACS post is used while charging, and it also enables charging without always having to drop a trailer. A rear port makes towing a far more painful experience. For a vehicle with towing capability, a front positioned port is best. For a tow vehicle with a NACS port, the front passenger port is the only sensible position.

I mean, sure but the tank location doesn't really matter that much, they can get the fuel to where it's needed. That's what pipes are for lol

Relocating the fuel filler from the right-front position adjacent to the tank to the left-rear location will not be feasible, even if the system is pressurized. The excessive number of openings between the front and rear, coupled with the insufficient height, precludes the implementation of a gravity-fed fuel tank, particularly in a cross-body configuration.

As long as it is not hidden behind a spring loaded license plate frame...
You mean like this. :ROFLMAO:

Those were the days.
At the rate how NJ keeps raising electric bills gas and electric for cars will be the same cost. Last month 20% raise, June another 20%, September will be another 20%. At some point Electric will cost more here in NJ than gas is. Another reason for my decision on Harvester

Let me jump on the "passenger side please" team as a street parker. It's enough of a big deal that I'd really have to think hard about going through with my traveler purchase if it stays on the drivers side.

Scout. “People. Connections. Community. Authenticity." Welcome to the Scout community. Enjoy the ride. 🛻 🚙
Remember the built in search on the forums is a great place to start getting answers to your many questions. 😀

That would be a long, snakey filler neck.
Do we know where the fuel tank is going to be located? The Harvester engine, as far as we’ve heard, is going to be over/behind the rear axle. The fuel tank has to take up 20-ish gallons of volume, but it’s not clear where it will be. If they keep the frunk in the Harvester, then the fuel tank almost has to be placed in the middle or rear of the vehicle. Which means it won’t be any more snakey to fill from the rear driver’s side than from the front passenger side.

Their graphic here shows the filler neck in the front, but it’s not clear there’s a fuel tank right under it.

Here’s another look, seems the fuel tank is in the front. By the filler neck. The fuel tank is towards the front, and the battery is towards the back. Is what’s been shown. Still the same size frunk. And I believe from what Scott has said it’s about a 15 Gallon tank.

Thanks.

In that location, the filler tube can be either front right or front left and not be too big of an issue.

The 20-ish gallon statement was for the full volume of the exterior of the tank, its mounting hardware, and clearances. The interior volume may be 15 gallons, but it will take up more volume when mounted on the vehicle.
