2018 Toyota sienna-the family hauler that may get replaced if I can convince my wife to take my Volvo, or maybe just get something else before hand.

Blue or urban pearl gray that looks blue?

The Diffused Sky Blue Pearl that is only available on the Trailsport. It is the blue that you almost always see on review cars. By urban pearl gray do you mean what Honda calls Sonic Gray Pearl?

I call the sky blue Periwinkle. We had a loaner 3 weeks ago and it was a pilot trail sport . I liked seeing it in garage as we had it for like 4 days over a weekend but long term I think I’d get bored.

Yes. It’s a unique blue. When we were buying our pilot I told my wife to get the sky blue Periwinkle every time I see it I look but the Sonic gray to me looks like a faded denim blue and on the pilot with a brown interior I’d love that combo. That said we couldn’t find that combo in an Elite within 400 miles unless we were willing to pay over MSRP which wasn’t gonna happen

Making a change, and maybe a chance to learn more. Our daily drivers are starting to fail, so I think we're going to update them before the new Scout comes. Got the wife her new one (ICE small SUV) this weekend.

For me, I am considering buying a 5 year old Model X so I get some experience doing longer drives in a battery only car and can really see what the driving/charging experience is while I wait for the Scout.

Still likely to get the Harvester Traveler, but it would be cool to get a couple of years in a BEV to see what that experience is like.

I’m in a 2016 Honda Pilot that has 110k miles on it. I have a 12 year old that will be taking the Pilot as their first car when the Scout arrives. The kid doesn’t like or want the Pilot. I could afford a newer nicer car for them, but my parents taught me that if you’re not paying, you don’t have much choice. Hopefully they’ll appreciate the life lesson as much as I do now. And maybe if they’re on the best behavior and turn into a good driver I’ll let them take the Scout out every once in a awhile.

At 16-wheels are wheels. My cousin’s daughter turned 16 3 years ago. The parents brother sells cars so they went to him. Found a great honda civic for a great deal. Car was blue and her daughter said she didn’t like the color. Next 2 years she walked or found a ride. I thought it was the best parenting I’ve ever seen her do. At 18-1/2 they tried again and this time her daughter kept her mouth shut

Most kids dont have a clue how good they had it until they are in their mid twenties. That one seemed to learn pretty quick!

My parents told me, "We will never give you a car because you'd just trash it or knock someone up in it. You will buy your own car and take better care of it if it isnt a handout." ( I was asking for my dads old Mitsubishi Delica they had promised me as a first car)

They didnt budge so at 15 years old I worked in construction all summer to save up enough to buy my grandpas 1985 F150 farm truck for $1,800.... but paying for it with my own money didnt stop me from doing burnouts to impress girls and blowing up the AOD a few months later


With the current cost of vehicles I dont really want my kids saddled with debt while they are establishing themselves, but I have 4 boys (3,7,8,10) and dont have the cheddar to buy each one of them a car. We live in a rural area so they will definitely need something to commute in when they start working or going to college.

I think I am going to pass down my 2004 GX470 for them to all share and carpool in so they can start working and saving money for their first car, then i will match whatever they come up with for a down payment. I did suggest buying them mopeds or motorcycles but the wife wasnt having that. Ha

As I thought about it later today I realized not all wheels are wheels at 16. I was fortunate to get a hand me down Scout which is why I’m here today so I have to amend my comment. At 16-any wheels are great-and some wheels start a life long love of a given vehicle

That said we funded her a good quality new vehicle that she cares greatly for (which shocks me because you are correct that most kids trash their parents cars) and she is paying for 50% of it. Same kid has a 40 hour a week internship this summer and is dying for the schedule because she wants to get a second job along with mowing our grass and taking two summer classes to try and cut a semester off of college. Keep trying. I feel like I’m fortunate and have a great kid and even at 20 we still have a close connection. Hoping it stays that way. And she’s not interested in dating because she has high standards. Suits me just fine!
