We definitely need those socks in the merch store! Some cool pics of Scout pics while waiting in line at the vending machine. Scout socks-how cool! I think this was suggested at some point for the merch store
Thats a good control arm design. I can tell it had some german inspiration. Some worm’s eye view shots
@R1TVT Just curious. As a fellow Rivian owner, I'm interested in knowing what led you to saying they are going to be beasts. Was it the size or something else?I gotta say, I was a little skeptical about hearing "oh wow, they look so much better in person!"
But I was wrong and will admit that. They do.
The new car smell got me. The interior really does look much better in person, and these things are going to be beasts (in a very good way). So cool to meet some of the Scout team tonite, and to meet J Alynn and Scoutsie too. Lots of fun dorking-out on Scout for an hour or two.
Thank you so much for posting these, @J Alynn ! I'm happy they seem to mimic the R1 because I've found them very intuitive on my R1. At least for the stalks, I don't find myself wanting much (except maybe a "resume" button for the cruise) or wishing something was different (the dedicated "audio" button probably for answering calls, etc., but that appears to be there!Passenger side stalk
Was really hoping for Midwest…Was told in passing no major changes through end of year. And one more stop. Google says it is both a western region and a pacific north west region but geography is not my thing so I don’t know!
Yes, size, the Terra is certainly full-sized, whereas my R1T sits sort of as a tweener between a Tacoma and a full sized truck. I actually really like the size for the R1T, but feel that the bed could be longer and the interior stretched an inch or maybe two. I am also thinking that the entire Terra platform just has a feel to it that is more rugged & beastly than the R1T (could be the wheels and tires, which will likely incur an efficiency penalty when it comes time to post actual range numbers). I'm really interested in seeing how Scout finalizes the drivetrain, the frame and all the suspension components. I have a feeling that they will be overbuilt in a good way. I'm a fan of a little less complexity, even if the trade-off means a little less refinement in ride quality, but this is all TBD until we see what comes with production. If I am going to live with a truck outside of its warranty period, I would rather opt for an overbuilt / more traditional live-axle suspension & IFS (with no air). We shall see!@R1TVT Just curious. One more concrete example would be the bumpers! I am also looking forward to seeing how Scout designs the final production bumper (or bumpers). Can't remember if anyone else posted a picture of this yet, but a couple booths down from Scout was this very interesting vehicle at the LL Bean booth.

Hmm, come to think of it, I wonder if this was a cleverly disguised Scout test mule. Jamie did say they would be unrecognizable from the outside.![]()
Photo makes it look like you had skis mounted under those rear tires. Are you sure there wasn’t some shenanigans going onOne more concrete example would be the bumpers! Rivian's bumper is very shallow and rounded. I can't even stand on the R1T bumper to get into the bed of the truck, and there is no integrated step anywhere. It is very tightly integrated and also has back-up lighting that is essentially flush with the bumper surround - which makes it susceptible to damage. I cracked a lens on one of those bumper lights backing into a snow bank in a back country parking lot that wasn't well plowed. In any other truck, I would just jam the rear end into the bank to park - not so much with a Rivian unfortunately. When I went to fix it, I opted to repair the lens itself from the outside at home because it was nearly impossible to get a new lens installed without dismantling the rear end of the truck. It has since been replaced, but that is one example of where the Scout might better handling some rough truck treatment with less worry about expensive repairs. Hope that helps. When the snow banks dwarf your truck you can see where a beefy bumper can help:

Couple more as I was excited to see it. No where near as cool as when I saw the Oscar Meyer weiner mobile broken down along I-95 like 20 years ago. Always wondered how that call went:![]()

Ha ha, everyone has to grow a mullet because they’re cool again.I also learned today that (I think I have this right but google disagrees) that’s Scouts current Charlotte offices are former NASCAR offices so cool little tie in to the auto world
I’d have to buy the hat with mullet hair sewn on…Ha ha, everyone has to grow a mullet because they’re cool again.
