Gonna use the same battery tech as everyone else?

From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.
Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.
How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.
Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. There has been lots of discussion and Scout has basically noted they aren’t starting with brand new, untested battery tech. If it hasn’t been proven at large capacity and production for mass units Scout is not risking it. One mistake and the company could be upside down with no recovery. The search button will help you find much of the discussions if you haven’t looked already. But new tech is not on the menu for the launch vehicles
Oh good grief. How many of these threads are we going to start today? Please stop. Wimp out? Give me a break. NONE and I mean NONE of these "advanced" batteries are in ANY production anywhere. NO......WHERE......
They are lab experiments, every single one of them. Will one of them come to fruition someday? Probably. Maybe. I have been driving EVs for 16 years now and some battery breakthrough is always just around the corner. I'm still waiting. Meanwhile the cost of LFP and NMC keeps being driven down and, most importantly for Scout, they are readily available and we have excellent long term data on how long they last, how to handle them, etc. As they say, they are a known commodity. Scout gets one shot at entering the market. No matter how impressive the stats are, if people start seeing them on flatbeds because some "advanced" battery tech wasn't ready, the company is doomed.
This is a brand new company with a brand new facility. They have a lot of gremlins to deal with, unproven battery tech should not be one of them.

Better to start with something that is tested and in production, than to risk the company on tech that is not. Sure, I want a better battery too, but I don't want to wait 4 more years for it.
