It's a fairly funny story - the '93 Pathfinder was my first manual, and my first new-vehicle purchase (post college, first real job, etc.). The term SUV, if it was used, wasn't quite as pervasive around then. My friend and I drove to VT to go skiing. We pulled up to a skiing outfitter to look around. Not long after, some guy walks in and asks "who has a red truck." I replied I don't have a truck but I have a red Pathfinder. Few minutes later he says, "whoever had a red truck, it rolled down the hill into a field across the road." Friend and I looked at each other, then ran out to discover my Pathfinder sitting pretty in the middle of a snow covered field across the road. Lesson learned and an opportunity for 4WL (I HAD set the parking brake so I'm sure it was a slow roll).

Was thinking that this weekend too. Fortunate PA’s new liberty bell plate is relatively neutral but at least we only have rear plates to deal with

Technically we are to have a front plate in Illinois. It’s in a bag in the back with a tow hook mount and until someone tells us to put it on, it’s staying in the trunk.

Saturday morning we went and walked around down the SC State Capitol. A front plate would ruin the front of this car and there’s no way in heck I’m allowing holes to be drilled in the front. Not gonna happen.

All this to say, please SM don’t put on front plates unless the owner asks for the bracket to be installed.

Yep, Ford dealer's were doing this to Bronco's as well, drilling right below the grill. I had ordered an aftermarket relocation bracket for the bumper. One would think this would have been more thought out during the design process.

To me it’s a truck.
I recently moved our reservation from Traveler to Terra. They’re both trucks. One just happens to have an open bed useful for things I don’t want in the cabin of my truck.

Having to renew registration for two vehicles for back-to-back months in Maryland almost requires having to take out loan. Not really, but it has gotten expensive as it has nearly doubled. 2021 rate for two years was 135$, now $240 for 3,700# vehicle.

That’s one thing I don’t miss about California is the car registration based on value of vehicle. It did go down every year, but boy that first year when you bought a new car was sure not fun. Illinois is $151 a year.

Right? I unfortunately have 4 within 3 months. I used to have 6 (3 kids). It was really painful. Curiously, my Odyssey is heavier than my Pilot so I pay over $200 for a 21 year old minivan. Thank you Moore.

Oh wow, you are Terra now. How fun!!

I love both, but I think my disappointment in the Silverado and unwillingness to go back to an End-of-Life Lightning means that at this moment, there is only one mid-sized or full-sized BEV pickup out there that might be worth owning, and that’s the Rivian R1T. I don’t see the move from Silverado to R1T to be a step up in value-to-cost ratio to me, based on how I use the truck, so we won’t be migrating to that.

So, despite the Terra’s size, it’s actually the only BEV truck in the US that looks promising for my use-cases. With me driving 18k to 25k miles a year in truck use, I expect that by the time I can buy a Terra, the Silverado will be at 50k-75k miles. That’s not a whole lot, but it’s also not an unreasonable time to sell it.

I call it a SUV for the fact it doesn't have a bed and there is another model that is an actual truck. Also, I'm from the south so a truck must either have a truck bed, or more than 4 wheels lol!

Okay I have to have a compass. It’s a requirement for my Traveler. I remember seeing that teaser picture prior to launch of the compass. I ran to tell my husband there’s gonna be a compass on the ceiling!
