Oh no, you didn’t offend at all. I was honestly just curious what you meant. I know nothing about Jerry cans and was curious what other options are typical. Do they come in other colors besides red? Different materials? Is the red a safety thing?

I know I want the BEV, but I love the Jerry can. I’m sure that would do wonders for range.

I didn’t consider the safety factor. I hope someone with more knowledge can chime in on the idea.

Okay that’s a question. Does a Jerry can have to be red or a certain material? Or could you have let’s say a Scout orange metal Jerry can?

It was and it wasn’t. How much does the tire hanging off the back affect the range?

For me, it makes this SUV unique from others. Making the Jerry can standout will highlight it even more. It’s mostly a visual factor.

It does look cool. Maybe just changing the texture of the can to make it look more rugged would work for me.

I’m not interested in the option, personally. I do like the tire on the back, only because a spare tire is important to me. And if they could option it without it being so cumbersome, that would be great.

I hope so too. Each rep all had different answers. Mainly because so much has not been solidified. But at $60k, this base model better be well equipped, because completion certainly is.

Regarding the $60k I asked one rep, do y'all really think you can hit that and he laughed and said "what do you think?" Lets be real, there is no way they initial launch will be at $60k but like Rivian I think Scout will absolutely bring it eventually, and the thing that inspired the confidence that they would hit the $60k target is the same rep said "we've seen what Tesla has done and what Rivian has done and it would be a really bad move for us to do the same thing, we have something to prove and we are determined to show what we can do".

Right. It’s been the same on my end. And I when friends who work there and are high up. But I 100% agree with you @cyure

They do not *have* to be red, but it seems like a defacto standard...

I know the steering wheel can be controversial but I love the squircle. I really hope production vehicles have an option for two tone like the concepts.

It’s also felt really comfortable as well.

If I get the tire carrier (which depends on a permit to extend my garage), I may get the jerry can, but I would not carry it unless I was going camping etc.

Yes, if the container contains flammable liquid the container is red, otherwise it can be white or blue even.

I dont think this will impact range or air resistance that much if at all because of high the roof line is compared to where the spare tire location is, (much like a Jeep or Bronco) and the Jerry can is tucked behind the vehicle not sticking out from the side, so there wont be any wind resistance.

One thing to remember with a BEV weight means nothing for range loss, it's strictly down to the air resistance.

I think that's a huge point to make actually. Yes, we all expect them to have more expensive versions available initially (launch edition, etc.), but if they come out the gate with ONLY those more expensive versions available, they'll be called out for it, as they eluded to with you.

Never been mentioned. If it starts at $60 and follows similar non luxury SUV’s I’d guess mid, maybe upper $90’s for loaded full off-road setup

Anyone know the height of the Traveler with the roof rack? It may not fit in many garages with it.

Unless you really jack up the vehicle with a lift kit it should fit. Standard industry garage door is 7’ h so they will design to clear that. What you do afterwards is where the issue might arise
