Traveler NEEDS the bench seat

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Hi everyone, I wanted to make this post to shed light as to why I've been so pulled towards this brand and a new revelation I came about that has me worried.

To start I want to say that trucks are fine. For my lifestyle, whether that's car camping, other cardoorsy activities, or just navigating a city, the Traveller is the move. The Terra is great, but an SUV is so much more practical for what I actually do day to day, and a lot easier to deal with once you leave the suburbs and hit a real city.

So here's what has me concerned. I've been seeing talk that the bench seat is going to be exclusive to the Terra. If that's true, I genuinely think that's a mistake, and I want to make the case for why.

A bench seat is one of the best features a truck cab can have. It's not just about capacity. It's about the experience. I want my dog or my partner sitting right next to me. That's it. That's the whole argument. It's one of those features that sounds small until you've had it, and then you can't go back.

I'm not asking for it on the top trim. Put it on a lower trim. Make it accessible. But if it's not available on the Traveller at all, that's a deal breaker for me, full stop.

Hoping others feel the same way and that Scout is listening. Would love to hear if anyone has more info on this.

I don’t know where you heard that. The bench seat will be available in either model.

In fact, they did a commercial that played during hockey playoffs highlighting the fact that you can get a bench seat in the Traveler

One less thing for you to worry about. The bench seat will be available in both.

I just realized I should have said welcome to the community as well! Welcome!

I have no worries about the bench seat coming, it was made out as a huge deal from the get go at the original reveal. I'm genuinely curious what the take-rate is going to be for it though.

I'm 100% getting the bench seat, I've only ever had bench seats in a truck and refuse to buy console versions. (Which is actually partly what kept me out of a Lightning)

I think it’s cool but for me I love love the console. It’s just so pretty. I needed to see the options in person and once I did the decision was easier.

That’s never been stated. Always both cars. The cabana roof is debatable on Terra but bench is supposed to be both.
BTW-welcome to the forum and thanks for the post

I totally get that different folks have reasons for the console. I like the interiors of my trucks to be the most versatile. Same with all vehicles. If there's a 7 passenger version of a 3-row I'm going with that (we did with an Atlas) versus the 6 as an example. For my full-size trucks they've always been bench seats and I actually do use that 6th seat more often than one would think.

That’s why I’m glad they have both. I want the console for all my stuff and that shelf on the floor for my purse. I don’t need my purse flying across the floor and hitting my feet while I’m driving.

Where did you see this? It sounds like someone is spreading FUD about the Scouts. It would be nice to be able to refute that at the source so other people reading it know that is not true.

Oh they did a whole commercial about it. I highly doubt it’s going anywhere.

I think it’s going to be more wanting it than you think.
I thought that about the two-row R1S as well, before Rivian cancelled it...
