We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

Well, people love paying four bucks a gallon for gas that much.
A friend of mine asked me to drive them to the airport this week and said if I did, I could use their car for doing my rounds afterwards since it’s cheaper to drive my car to the airport, but I guess they forgot the gas prices because they were surprised when I told them how much it would cost in gas to do my rounds that I do in an electric.

Yeah, it’s icky. I don’t fill my (hybrid) car up much and I don’t drive a lot, so it’s not hurting me as much as a person with an involuntary daily commute, but woof. It’s painful when this happens.

I have a Costco membership and tend to go there when I need a fillup (and danishes, and four pounds of steak, a bag of Korean fried chicken, a gross of shit tickets and yes pun certainly intended, etc) because it’s usually the best deal, but blegh.

I pay for a Walmart plus subscription and I give the gas codes out to friends and family when they need them and right now they’ve been very useful. I don’t care much for gas stations to begin with. They’re often disgusting so when we need gas, we either go to Walmart and get the $.10 off or we go to Sam’s Club because the Walmart subscription works there as well generally around here, those are the best places to get it though thankfully I don’t have to get gas and doing what I do with the miles I drive every day I’m saving almost $400 a month if not more in gas costs
 
Same seats are in the Ioniq 9 EV as well, I believe.
Wouldn't be surprised. The Ioniq 9 (and Telluride/EV9 for that matter) absolutely do have power folding seats on the higher trims. Although, they could easily be different as well.

But the older model Palisade and Telluride also had that on the higher trims, and no such issues, so maybe its not all the same thing? I'd sure hope not. That sounds like a nightmare.

As a side note, power folding seats, are generally a dumb idea (IMO). On the higher Ioniq9 trims, to get out of the third row also triggers the power second row... and its just as slow as a power front seat, but has to move forward like a foot or so, and tilt forward. And it takes FOREVER.

We have the manual seats in the middle and third rows, on purpose. The nightmare scenario here isn't one I'd really worried about to that extreme, but was a potential problem. Horrible that it happened.

I believe they may have made software changes on the 2026 models. The stop sale order indicates that the motor has the ability to stop and reverse but that perhaps the software isn't coded to command that. I believe they are using electrical resistance to determine objects (when motor resistance exceeds such value stop and reverse) but for some reason this coding wasn't written into the controller for 2026 model years?

This is speculation and we will need to see the official recall notice and the remedy that Hyundai puts forward to address this. It is surprising that this issue is an actual issue though; power folding seats and the sensors and coding to make them safe to use have been around many years. This shouldn't have been an issue and a child shouldn't be dead because of this failure on Hyundai's part...

What flavor danish? They are good. Actually just remembered I have one in the freezer. Should I eat it now or sit it out for breakfast tomorrow?

I'm not sure manufacturers are reading the room correctly. Maybe it's not the EV that people have the problem with, it's the embracing of the tablet-on-wheels idea that most nobody wants. Hopefully Scout proves me right, but I feel like they're actually listening to what people and automotive journalists have been saying. I'm really hoping the NHTSA and IIHS step up and start dinging safety ratings for vehicles that don't have manual controls for standard tasks.

I was thinking like this - how much of an improvement are power folding seats? Seems like 0 (or negative actually). When we bought our new couch, my wife wanted to get recliners and they're power recline. Which sounded like a good idea, but it's sooo slooow. Sometimes I want to just get up real quick & that is not an option if I'm reclined. Half the time I end up sitting crooked & using her footrest when she's reclining. hahaha

I’m onboard with your thinking. Not sure why RVs have to be TRON world ready. Adoption is slow so let the tech fans drool on Tesla and rest of the world gets slower, logical conversion with the common sense non-novelties approach Scout is taking
 
Hello! I have a rather off topic question. I’m looking for a reasonable opinion so I can help my mom make a decision.

We have a 2001 F-150 Lariat 4x4, with a 5.4 Triton V8, it’s nearing 300k miles but the rear diff is giving up on it.

During the snow I was taking somebody to work when it started, the rear wheel locked up and slid into a roundabout and just gently bumped the curb. That was the worst time but it makes a bad grinding sound and will lock “softly” randomly, if in motion.

The question is this. Is it worth fixing? Or should I help her try and sell it?
