Scouts for tall people

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Im anxiously awaiting the dimensions of the vehicles. Every picture I keep trying to imagine legroom. As someone who is 6’7”, I keep hoping that this vehicle in all configurations (bench and non-bench) will hit the mark of most full size SUVs and pickup trucks. When will we have some specs?

Having sat in it it is tall but I am concerned for you at 6’-7” as you might get get some rub

I’m 6’5 I was feeling the same way then a week ago I found a video of someone 6’4 sitting in the Terra, and it looked decently roomy. I’d link the video if I could remember who uploaded it, but hopefully fully adjustable seats can help with most issues in the production builds. Here’s hoping some early builds get tour the states maybe even with demo drives/rides

Jordan Sanford is 6'8 so maybe this video can serve as reference until there is an opportunity to actually sit in the vehicles

Re: headroom for the tall - wild guess is steel roof will have vaulted ceiling w/ plenty of headroom. An electrochromic roof might have been the same but don't expect that to be offered (FWIW - this would be my first choice; maybe it will be developed/offered now that Audi is joining in?).

Meanwhile panoramic w/ powered, mechanical shade and cabana may cost a few inches of headroom.

Having seen it in person twice now it just looks like a vehicle that would accommodate tall people, but I understand the need for specifics.

I have always said the cabana roof on the Scout reminds me of the Sky one touch roof on a Wrangler. While I was at the recent viewing in Chicago I heard a SM team member say the same thing. The closest to that roof on the market right now is that wrangler roof. If you are considering it it might be worth it to go take a look at one of those.

I was considering it so I went and test drove a Wrangler with one. It’s not for me. I just don’t like the closed in feeling when it”s closed. I’m glass all the way.

I am 6'5" tall myself and I am not super worried. But one thing that is part of my plan is I am not getting the bench seat. I don't know how much adjustment is available with the bench seat, but I'm fairly confident that the bucket seats will have a better range of adjustment.
I think that is very likely the case or else your passenger is sitting with knees against their chests 🤣

From what I’ve seen of the concept truck, there seems to be full adjustments on both sides of the center seat/console, with the center itself being “planted” with a drawer underneath, which would make sense in a modern style, however you only get one shallow shoulder bolster per side

I'm not tall enough to post here... :-(

takes me back to Kennywood or Cedar Pointe in the 60's...

That video was super helpful. It seems like Jordan has his knees right up against the dash. I know when visiting the prototype vehicles they limited the touching of this in the car so I’m hoping that the seat just wasn’t allowed to be adjusted.

Correct, he would not have been able to adjust the seat at all.

My hunch is seats don’t even move at this point. The bench seat in Terra was bolted in place
