The Recon Will Be Jeep's 'New Defender,' Says ExecCan't say I'm surprised. The Stellantis brands are so far behind in EVs already and they seem to really be struggling with making the transition. Whatever happened to the Jeep Recon? It's been almost radio silence for years now on that one!
Sure, still no new information there. It's a year behind schedule and they haven't released even basic details about it yet even though it's supposedly coming out in a few months. The Recon Will Be Jeep's 'New Defender,' Says Exec

The Recon Will Be Jeep's 'New Defender,' Says Exec
The new Jeep Recon will be the brand's version of the 'new Defender,' a British executive noted. The company has high expectations for its next off-roader.www.motor1.com
Yep, the widely reported narrative of "EV sales" being "in decline" is false. It's a narrative being pushed by both the oil industry through 'astro-turf' industry groups as well as lagging automakers led by Toyota and Stellantis. It's an objectively false narrative that the data has never supported.More than 1 in 4 cars sold worldwide this year is set to be electric as EV sales continue to grow

As a Mopar and Jeep fan, I have to agree. I find it really sad.Another Fail from Stellantis. They should just shut down completely. Let all the brands they own separate from them. Jeep and Ram and Dodge would be better off. They seem to have taken the biggest hit from stellantis owning them.
I would have to learn a lot more and clearly it’s not going to work with older vehicles. I don’t even have CarPlay until about 3 years ago when I replaced my stock stereo. Ha!It definitely sounds interesting. There will certainly be time before Scout is released to include it if they want. I'm also on the fence if I would want this anyways. If your car has this Apple CarPlay Ultra, can you still choose to just run it as normal CarPlay alongside the cars normal UI? If so then I'd be fine with having it included so people can pick and choose. Otherwise I might prefer just sticking with how CarPlay is currently.
I don't think this is what Scout will be using at all. They will stick to what they are already developing. Car Ply Ultra is Apple's answer to Android Automotive, not to be confused with Android Auto. Regular Car Play and Android Auto display apps running on the phone using the car's screen. Android Automotive and now Car Play Ultra are full operating systems running on the car, used to handle all of the infotainment. Car makers are generally lousy at operating systems, Google has been providing a car oriented version of Android, Android Automotive, for a while and now Apple wants to play too. I don't know all the details but I suspect Google and Apple will supply some apps that the car makers can use if they wish and the car makers can write their own to run on the Google or Apple OS.I’m guessing this is what scouts will be using. Since we have been clued that the “gauge cluster” is customizable.
Just because Scout supports a feature like this doesn't mean you need to use it. I'd love for the Scouts to have this. Again, having choices is good!I took a screenshot about that new CarPlay ultra. I need to learn more but I don’t think I want that in my Scout. I want Scout created gauge clusters not Apple I also don’t think I would want Apple controlling my drive modes, etc That’s what I paid Scout for So the car companies that are going to go this route does that mean they don’t have to design any of that it’s just all through the phone? And what if you forgot your phone, I know, I know, but then what?View attachment 6586

I imagine the vast majority of people who have EVs or have tried them will want to stick to them going forward.![]()
Americans Still Want EVs: Study
Most car shoppers are still considering electric vehicles, even though the future of tax credits is uncertain and tariffs threaten to make them pricier.insideevs.com
Change can be scary that’s for sure. I’m slowly getting less and less afraid to go for the BEV. And that sounds crazy to say I’m scared to buy an electric car. It’s just the unknown.I imagine the vast majority of people who have EVs or have tried them will want to stick to them going forward.
I'm also fairly certain if we'd had EVs for the last 100 years and gas cars were the new technology coming out today that the same people who are anti EV today would be anti gas in this scenario just because they don't want change whether it is for the better or not.
