From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. It is essentially another skateboard platform but has a bit more flexibility for heavier luxury vehicles, plus numerous improvements over the current J1 and MEB EV platforms. Different software as well.

Scout will be using an all-new body on ladder frame EV chassis. There could be some component sharing (electric motors for example) between the various platforms as that just makes sense from economies of scale perspective. We are working on a code name for the new Scout platform...

VW Group of America CEO Kjell Gruner said he is a big fan of the franchise dealer model and reiterated the importance of retailers.
Anyone have a subscription to AutoNews? Because i want to know what this guy said. Because it sounded like he sucked the balls of the franchise dealerships. Doesn’t seem he’s doing much to help Scouts fight for DTC with the comments he has made.

4 things that stood out to me
Two good two bad
Good:
- The battery chemistry for Harvester model is older cheaper Chem (hopefully keeps cost down)
- Steady state is 70 MPH, so should be capable of highway driving even if gasing up when the battery is depleted)
Bad:
- Harvester model is a whole second slower on 0-60 times. This isn't huge but man just losing those bragging rights like right off the bat.
- The towing capacity if the Harvester model is half of pure EV?!? 5k lbs, that's what my V6 Palisade can do.
I understand there would be a hit in towing with the extra weight but cutting by half. This has me questioning the Harvester model, and I do too many road trips to go pure EV. This has me for the first time since the launch event thinking this might not be my next vehicle. I'm hopeful those towing numbers go up a bit.

I wonder if it's structural. My understanding is that the Harvester module will be in the rear. That placement may have required them to remove some of the frame structure which then lowered the towing capacity.
Okay this article says this new Kia gets rid of the gas door that’s powered open with a motor and makes it like a regular gas door. I thought EVs just had a regular gas door you pop open. Is that not the case?
Some models do and some don't. I'm renting a Polestar 2 right now and owned a Bolt EUV and they both just pop open when you push on them. My GV60 is motorized, so is Tesla, and Rivian is (in)famously over-engineered. The models aimed at the luxury market tend toward motorized charging port covers.
Some of us appreciate toxic relationships.
I loved my 85 despite replacing every component under the hood. lol
Got it. Thanks for the clarification. Well as this isn’t luxury I hope it just pops open. One less thing to break.
I test drove that GV60. It’s a really nice vehicle.
