Young Scout Enthusiasts!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

This is a thread for all the young Scout enthusiasts out here in the forums like myself! I'm really hoping that when the Traveler and Terra hit the market, they'll stay close to their projected cost (Been saving since day one). By 2027, I'd love to see my age group (20-25) be just as passionate about these vehicles as I am! I think it would be really cool to see the younger crowd grow a big following towards the Scouts. As some of you may know I am really trying to help build that following for my generation 😂.

Gotta love patina on a Scout!

One of my biggest regrets was not jumping on this Scout I found coming back from Christmas. Weeks later it was posted on FB Marketplace x3 the amount. It's Scout 800 that was used a Marine base. I would have kept it orginal with a clear coat to preserve the paint.

Very nice. I wonder if @cyure counts this as green or YOLO 🤣

I’m immature but I’m 46, does that count? I was at an anime convention last weekend. I’m thinking Scout needs to tap into the coveted cosplayer demographic. One of the local bars was luring in attendees with promises of weeb-friendly guacamole. They knew their audience. Hand out cardboard Scout cut-out foldables with shoulder straps to wear as costumes.

Chronologically, I'm between the OP, and most of the rest of the denizens here (from the sound of it anyway).

I had never heard of scout, until I went to a friends house in High school, and saw a "weird old car" parked/rusting in the backyard. Taking a look, I found it was a Scout 800. We got some friends together, and actually got close to getting it repainted (we sanded it/prepped it, but then... paint cost money... so it didn't happen).

And I had an "older buddy" (looking back on it, he was probably my age now :D), who was REALLY into rock crawling (serious stuff, king of the hammers, etc). And he said he'd run into a super cool Scout at moab a while back, it used a gyroscope and air suspension keep the vehicle flat on sidehills. Ever since then I've been "aware" of them.

Also, looked at your profile briefly OP. Turns out, I've got family from Madera, and spent a few weeks out there as a kid visiting cousins (a day or few every year or few). Small world :).

Personally, while offroading is definitely a thing I was into, its not something I'm actively into atm. That said, I do value the "swiss army knife" sort of design of the scout and vehicles like it, and do actively participate in outdoor sports like mountain biking, backpacking, snowshoeing, etc. So while I'm not really going "offroading" I'm going "crappy forest roading" and "can I get out of the snow that fell while I was snowshoeing and still get home" all the time.

Here is the ZJ I bought in college, and still have, all these years later. Its got a 3in lift, 31in tires, and open diffs. Its got swaybar disconnects, and is otherwise pretty low key.

The Jeeps been through a lot, and I've still got it. But I really, really like the idea of the EREV Traveler replacing it, as we love our PHEV Hyundai Tuscon we've had the last 3 years. More range, more space, more everything, sounds good to me :).

The jeep costs me $7 to drive to the local trail system just 10 miles away (14mpg). The Tucson costs me ~$0.80 to do the same trip.

The local goods :).

Would love to hear what the younger generation wants to use there future Traveler/Terra for! I am planing on taking mine off-roading and camping.
Camping/Hiking/Snowboarding! I am lucky to have a job where I can often flex time and take 3-day weekends without much notification. So my girlfriend and I are often traveling for those three reasons within a "5-hour drive" radius. Additionally, my car is the primary driver and I often need to carry large things for work between work sites (not to mention groceries, snowboards, powerlifting equipment, and other gear), so as much as we like to make fun of "Mall Crawlers" my traveler is going to get absolute loaded on Costco trips and for meets/day trips

Haha, reminds me of this...
Saw this on my mountain bike forum, it is along the same lines :P.

I'm in my (now later) 30's, and don't feel like that yet, although I've been dealing with some time off the bike/being sedentary, as a result of some tendonitus in my knee (from a soccer injury as a kid, and irritated by a snow caving trip where I knelt for 6hrs digging snow caves for the youth group I mentor).

I just thought it was funny :D.

You are still a baby. Just wait till you are pushing 60! It’s a whole new experience.

Thats what I keep telling myself! And I really do hope to keep up my current lifestyle for another 20-30 years.

Although I've got a decade on the OP o_O.

Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

I'm stoked to have a 6 passenger vehicle of the same "vibe" as my jeep, which is sort of aging out. I love the 150 miles of range with the EREV (mmayyyybe could go with the pure EV, depending on other vehicle at the time, I think I need something with gas for the long 900 mile in a day trips we do through rural WA/OR/ID/UT). I love the storage space in the back (ie, you can have 4-6 people in there with gear for a backpacking trip, and it all fits), and I love the frunk.

I also love that I should be able to power my house during power outages.

But, legitimately worried about the price point. Just trying not to worry about that at the moment. And even if its way out of my price range initially, a used one could be in the cards later (lease return???).

We take a deep breath and we keep positive thoughts. Worrying about being able to afford it seems to be pretty universal. I just keep putting positive thoughts into the universe and saving my pennies and when doubts creep into my mind I push them away. We are all going to be posting pictures of our adventures in our Scouts someday I just know it.
