Warranty Considerations

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

I have thought about this for some time now after dealing with my F150 and all the issues it continues to have. I swear it is one thing after another. But I raise the Warranty question forth to the table. I really want Scout to succeed but I also want them to continue to break the auto industry. Continue to be different and bold. That said I would love to see 10 year warranties across the board. 10 year limited bumper to bumper. 10 year powertrain. 10 year or lifetime on the battery pack. Just go ahead and break the industry some more. I guess I am saying this because the current market is built to replace cars every few years anyways. Why not go ahead and give people and incentive to keep their Scout even more. I could see myself keeping both Scout vehicles for years to come. I just don't want them to skimp out on protecting the vehicles. I am sure they are already having a hard enough time trying to figure out where service centers will be but give us some really really good protections in the meantime. Anyways, thank you for listening to my rant! Moral of the story don't by a Ford F150 Hybrid without multiple extended warranties on it!! Anybody know someone that ones a (very nice) but used Ford?!?! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I agree 100% but today’s industries are built on more sales not lifetime running after 1 sale. They need it to be good enough to make buyers happy and failures to be in a way that doesn’t piss off the buyer and cause them to leave the brand. Not saying Scout but that’s how companies stay alive. I do not agree with that but the general market is a throw away society but here is to hoping Scout does exactly what you suggested. It would be refreshing for sure

I have a MOPAR lifetime warranty on my Wrangler and while I love it I understand why Chrysler stopped selling it. No one was getting rid of those cars that have it.

Now it’s my understanding that they have to provide an 8 year warranty on the battery. I thought that was the law on EVs. So we will get a long battery warranty. And that’s why I want the BEV, not as much to break.

Scout could offer transferrable lifetime warranties for the first model run of BEVs. After two or three years, do a new model and drop the lifetime warranty to a 100k mile warranty. After two or three more years, do another model and drop back to whatever the standard warranty is from most other manufacturers. That would give a huge benefit to early adopters while costing Scout essentially nothing.

I wouldn’t offer a lifetime or even 100k mile warranty for anything with an ICE; that would be too risky for a new company.

I would want to know the different time/mileage warranties for the EREV because of the EV components, I.C.E., & normal bumper-to-bumper warranties, extra manufacturers extended warranties we could purchase, and any 3rd party warranties that might good for the Scout nationwide.

I like my Acura's warranties because it stays with the vehicles even if it is leased or sold multiple times:
-Standard at $0: 4 yr/50,000 miles bumper-to-bumper (includes OEM accessories, 24 hr roadside, trip interruption, concierge service)

-Standard Powertrain at $0 : 6 yr/70,000 miles

-hybrid components at $0: 8 years/100,000 miles

-Certified Pre-Owned warranty at $0: 6 yrs/100,000 miles limited bumper-to-bumper and 7 years/100,000 mile powertrain

-Acuracare warranties can be purchased anytime with an active 4yr/50k standard warranty in the low hundreds to +/-$2500 in ranges of 1yr/12,000 extra miles to 5 yrs/120,000 total miles starting once the 4yr/50k expires.

-Corrosion: 5yrs unlimited miles

In this case, the ICE motor is likely from an estabilished catalog of engines, so its "less" of a worry (imo anyway).

Also, while there are less things to go wrong with an EV, things can still go wrong. I'd assume its mostly because its still "relatively" early days for electric vehicles. So while less to go wrong, its all newer stuff too.

Look at Hyundai/Kia/Genesis's EGMP platforms issues with the ICCU. They're having to extend the warranty on the vehicles on that platform out to like 180k miles due to it.

But I agree, longer warranty on first gen vehicles could be great. Because everyone knows the "watch out for the first gen of a new model" thing. Especially because in this case, its not just the first gen of a new model, its an entirely new brand.
