Traveler without rear tire carrier

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
The problem with removing the tire carrier is that there is no where else to carry a spare unless you put it on the roof rack, as the ICE is in the back. I still wonder how they will set up the ICE cooling.
ICE cooling is supposedly something that is state of the art and has never been done, from what Scott has mentioned in podcasts and on Jay Leno's. And for the tire carrier, Scout Motors engineering team is following the saying of "If there's a will, there's a way"

I suspect there will be three prospective locations for spare - carrier, under, and inside - but under won't be possible w/ EREV's ICE.

I'm all in for BEV w/out carrier. YMMV.
I don't believe that your assertion "but under won't be possible w/ EREV's ICE." has been established. This will need to be verified. I believe the community assumed there would be an under vehicle carrier on both EV and EREV. Although, the 35" wheel and tire combination would not fit under the vehicle. The community search did not find anything to refute this assumption.

To suspect is not to assert. We'll see.

If I remember from what has been discussed here, all versions bev/erev can have a 33” tire under the vehicle. Until it’s the 35” tires then tire Carrier is needed.

I’ve been thinking about this whole tire carrier debate. I get it. It’s big and you have to swing it out to open it, etc, etc. This is how I think about it. As a woman, I love high heels. The higher the better. Yes they are painful, but they make the outfit. That tire carrier may not be the most practical thing around but I love the way it looks so I’m okay with the pain. And I can totally see myself using the frunk all the time Team tire carrier!! 😹

Knowing there is a frunk I don’t worry about the tire swing because it won’t be that often anyway as I see the frunk being used 85% of the time I’m dragging things along.
Being in the building industry I had a female builder/designer tell me 20 years ago that the problem with male builders is they always forget the jewelry (stylish lights, cabinet pulls). She said “ you know to put the black dress on but you forget the pearls-and the pearls make the outfit”. Have never forgotten the analogy 😀

YES! Exactly! The frunk looks really big. I’m assuming my regular grocery/Sam’s runs will go in the frunk. The back will be larger items. Coming from an ICE vehicle I’m not used to that extra storage in the frunk. Am I right in my assumption that it’s as big as it looks in the videos?

There was a good amount of space and the lower bin storage could still hold gear essentials. I’m guessing you could fit a Sam’s run unless your buying big screen TV’s or furniture 🤣

Oh I forgot there was a lower bin. I need to watch the video again. As long as I can get cases of drinks, a pack of paper towels and various other weekly stuff it should be more than sufficient. I’m not buying tvs or furniture on the regular. 😹

I missed the never been done part. I wonder if they are going for a fully integrated system with a heat pump to cool and heat the interior, batteries, electric motors, and ICE. With flexible heat exchangers they could move heat from one component to another. Like out of the electric motors or ICE to the interior, or to the battery for charge preconditioning.
