Traveler 240 outlet

This is what I sent to Scout support:

I just do not understand why you would not place a 240 V outlet in the Traveler. You are placing a 240 V outlet in the pickup truck. I would think the batteries are comparable, the wiring systems as comparable, and the control systems are comparable on both vehicles. The minimal cost savings cannot be the justifiable reason to intentionally make the traveler inferior to the pickup truck.

It just appears to be a knee jerk, ridiculous, penny-pinching decision that auto companies always make. Don’t make a great product into a good product, a good product into an average product, an average product into a poor product; only makes a company go out of business. Don’t start Scout with this business plan.

I think you should reconsider this decision. It’s not as minor as you think.

I'll definitely agree with wanting the 240v in the Traveler as well, but it mostly depends on the vehicle to V2H or V2L capabilities. I want to be able to use my Traveler as a battery backup and generator for power outages, and without 240v, that won't be particularly useful. It's a feature that doesn't cost Scout anywhere near as much as it saves me in home battery and home generator costs, so having 240v access is a big value-add to me.

I would very much like a 240V in the Traveler. It's nice to have the option should I need it. Not for V2H, but for tools and the like for my woodshop should I need it and find some hypothetical free time again!

Would people be willing to accept an 30amp 240V outlet that required plugging into the charge port? Or does it have to be a separate outlet in the vehicle?

For example, I have the OEM V2L adapter for my Ioniq 5, which gives me a 15amp 120V outlet via the adapter in the charging port. I am fine with that. I don't need an outlet in the vehicle since I can get it with the adapter. A lot of other BEVs provide AC power vi an adapter as well. If the Scout's charge port was designed to support a V2L adapter that can provide 240V, then I would prefer that to having outlets in the truck.

Why compromise. The scout pickup already has the engineering in place. Scout recognized the necessity. It seems very shortsighted to make a compromise of a 30 amp, and in the line connection on everything is in place.

The difference there is the 240v is in the bed wall, not under the exterior cover and there is more space. Not against it but if being honest, I don’t need it either so wouldn’t want to pay more. If easily optioned that would be great. I’m sure primary goal was work trucks for construction-I realize lots of other options for using it but this was probably the primary reason. Being on a job site pre electric service makes this a great tool in a pick up. Framers running air compressors for nail guns would be so much better. But I suspect most would likely do a Terra with cap to have best of all worlds? Just my thinking-but valid nevertheless
