The Scout Times

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I've often wondered why states don't move ballot initiatives to vote on the franchise laws. I think peoples experience with dealers would overwhelmingly move most to repeal this concept. Rivian threatened to do this in Washington and the dealer association backed down quickly. They know the public (car buyers) hate the process.
Probably because the dealership lobby has a lot of money to throw at legislators. Getting something on a ballot varies from state to state and not every state permits voters to place any issue they want on the ballot. State constitutions and statutes determine which questions can be submitted, who can submit them, and what procedures must be followed. Generally speaking, getting something on the ballot isn't easy, especially when the dealership lobby probably has more money than the group trying to get it on the ballot.

I actually ran across some YouTube podcast last night (CBL something) that must be propped up by dealer association money or something because they were talking about the lawsuit in CA and how it was a good victory for the poor dealers' association there or whatever. Then they had a legal guy come on to basically tell them it really wasn't a win and it's only the second inning if it were a baseball game. :ROFLMAO: I refuse to link it here because it was so crazy how much of a dealer-centric pod it was. Like does anyone like auto dealers but auto dealers?

Politicians love them their money.

I watched it too. What a joke. Thinking it was husband/wife as they both had same last names

Did anything come out for the 2 year anniversary of announcement? Did I miss anything? I have been trying to skim the forums, but boy there's a lot!

Multiple sources now confirming vehicles being built - can’t wait to see the story drop!
Who is this man and why does he look like Christopher Kimball from Milk Street (formerly of their now hated rival America’s Test Kitchen)?

Obviously, I know his name and title and will watch this interview to find out more, but right now it’s a rhetorical question.

Tennessee denies Scout Motors direct sales dealer license application
This is such garbage. Just utter garbage. "According to the [Tennessee Motor Vehicle] commission, multiple Volkswagen dealers in Tennessee oppose Scout selling its vehicles in the state because they contend Volkswagen owns the company, which already sells its vehicles there." So let me get this straight. OEM dealers are mad that they're going to have competition in their state. Their complaints based on unsupported conclusions. Yet you side with them? It's pretty obvious here who butters the commission's bread.

@Jamie@ScoutMotors I was interested in possibly working for Scout. I love my current job, and don't want to leave, but I believe in Scout so much it had a draw. Alas, I missed out on your legal hiring. I've been defending lawsuits for 22 years and also advising human resources. Prefer the HR work, but I like the fight of litigation. Currently in-house doing both. I'll be happy to come to work for Scout and crack some skulls! My family and I will happily move to Charlotte where the weather is much nicer in the winter!
