Test drive options

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Didn’t see this mentioned elsewhere - the ability to have multiple people test drive for one preorder. The Scout will probably be mine, but it would very helpful to let my perfect beautiful wife get seat time before committing to a purchase.

Also, if possible, it would be great to be able to test drive both Terra and Traveler before converting our reservations so fence-sitters like me can make up our minds.

I’m sure eventually it will be like Rivian where they have experience centers where you can take one or the other or both for test drives. Rivian lets you take one for 45 minutes on your own. However, those that have the opportunity and choose to go first that would be my question are you buying not having test driven?

Rivian peeps if you got your rivians early on had you test driven them?

I feel like somewhere it was mentioned by @Jamie@ScoutMotors but my usual disclaimer of so much info on here and I don’t know what is said as legit and what is just one of our random daily posts 🤣. But definitely hope to get some seat time driving them for sure

Someone who went to New York said they spoke to someone at Scout and they were told something about reservation holders being able to test drive before ordering. But that was very unofficial from someone who spoke to someone at the New York event. That post is somewhere in all the New York posts. Lots of someone’s in this post. 😹

I would like to get a test drive before I'm committed for a purchase. I'm sure it will be great but I would definitely like to get a feel for how it drives, particularly around the one pedal driving dynamics and how it compares to my current car and make sure the general comfort and seating positions etc. are how I'd like it.

One other thing, if they do offer test drives I hope they have a couple of different options available, I don't want to have to test drive the top spec truck that I might not be able to afford, I'd rather test drive a base model, I'd still be able to get a good enough idea for my needs and then whatever I buy will be an upgrade from the test drive rather than a downgrade.

The Grenadier dealer did that. They had two fairly base models and those were the ones you test drove. Not the ones on the lot.

That’s a good idea. My wife and I test drove a polestar, and while I liked it pretty well, she found the seats pretty uncomfortable. Turns out we’re different people with unique bodies and acknowledging and validating her experience and opinions tends to lead to greater harmony in life. Stuff you learn when you get old :)

Yeah that’s what prompted this lol.

That and the thought that if I could get her to test drive on my reservation, we might convert to a two-scout family….

It wouldn’t make sense for them to limit a test drive to only one person. They’re going to want to get everyone they can to test drive their vehicles.

And they really, really only want people who love the vehicles to buy them in the first year. They don’t want anyone having regrets publicly. So there’s a very slim chance they won’t let everyone with a license test drive the vehicle.

They will need to have testers it’s the only way to be successful. I once heard a wise person say faith and patience

I’m big on multiple drives. Years ago we were ready to order a Volvo convertible and do European delivery. Ask for another drive, was a windy day and the cross wind made the seatbelt flap on my shoulder consistently and we kindly walked away from the deal. Was really disappointed but was glad to know before I committed that kind of money

We are totally the opposite in this house. I rarely drive the Supra and he absolutely does not like driving big cars. I have to be sick or want to have a drink at dinner and then he will drive my car.

Yeah-.my wife and I stick to our typical cars. I drive hers if she goes out of town just to run up her mileage but as DAD like as my Accord Hybrid is I really like it. And SO anxious to drive a Scout!

I can’t wait. I keep telling myself we are almost a third of the way there. (I’m counting from reveal. I know you have been on here longer.)

I think I’ve seen that around a lot. Even in one of the Scout Motors presentations, I think they mentioned test drive before purchasing for reservation holders.

Which to me sound like we will get to drive either media cars, or production ready scouts.
