Suggestions

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

I know there's several "suggestions" threads but I would really love to see XM radio as standard. I don't want to have to connect my phone to the XM, Spotify, Pandora, etc. app each time I want to listen to music or scroll the app to change the channel. I also don't want to have to rely on smartphone maps. A built in navigation to which I can send an address like I can on my BMW would be nice. Lastly, built in auxiliary lights would also be nice, such as flood lights and spot lights rather than having to add aftermarket with a wiring harness, etc.

Welcome to the community!

I would be very surprised if XM is not included, even my 2010 Xterra had it from the factory. Once you get used to XM it's hard to give it up... Agreed on the NAV too, but I'm assuming we'll have to rely on Gaia or ONX via carplay for true (not cell based) navigation, would be great if it was standard though, with over the air updates. For me that's not nearly as big of an issue as XM, XM is a must

Welcome. I’d say add this thought to one of the existing threads as well -will ensure the SM team that looks on forum see more thoughts. That said, I don’t think our recent Honda purchases included the XM, or if they did the trial period was very short. We use Pandora now but we’re always XM fans

For sure - we got 90 free days with our Ioniq and then had to start paying - for me I just want to make sure the antenna and software is there

I did ask my wife and we apparently got 30 days. Guess it went by that quickly I never used it 🤣
We used to get XM radio in our Lincolns for free and I used it occasionally. But, with our last two Lincolns we ONLY received 90 days. Now I don't really even think about it. If I want to listen to my favorite radio stations from home while traveling I use iHeart, and it is free.

Have had demo subscriptions. Guess IF I used it much maybe - but subscriptions to other services are not tied to individual devices. Probably 90% of my vehicle time is probably using Audable (which probably costs me a LOT more than XM-without the subscription and volume pricing, I kill a $25 book more than once a week - even with volume pricing it is probably more than $15 weekly). Honestly, I would probably never use XM, and unless it did something else, would probably not want the eyesore of the antenna.

Most vehicle manufacturers hide the XM antenna in the shark fin. Not much to see.

You make a good point-how will the communications be handled. Nothing on prototype so far so will it be a shark fin? Antenna post on front passenger or integrated wiring in windshield-which I’d prefer not knowing the windshield is upright and likely prone to eventual damage and replacements

I can’t imagine there won’t be built in nav. Seems like the built in does the best charger routing in existing EVs. My concern is on the other end, can I set up multiple towing days at the big screen on my Mac picking the roads that I want then transfer that to the Traveler for it to add charging stops? We do that now with our ICE vehicle using Apple Maps, Google would be fine too. That is transfer the route to my phone and use Apple Maps in CarPlay. One big reason in my mind to stick with the Harvester. I’m ok with EV around home and mostly gas on trips with opportunistic charging stops. It will be interesting to see how charging infrastructure improves between now and finalizing our order, and if Apple or Google can do a good job of charger routing.

Both Apple and Google support downloaded maps now so cell service is not necessary.

Figured the shark fin was XM only, but apparently they are putting other stuff in it. My Golf is old enough to not have one - don't think our 2018 Jeep does either, or my 2017 F250.
