Sizing up the competition

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
While I love and can’t wait to get my Scout, I don’t think these will be used as a serious off road vehicle - it’s just too wide IMO

The Traveler is definitely too wide for most of the trails I take my Toyota on, so I'll have to take the easier bypass routes, but even those will be tight. The beastie will also be too heavy for the soft/deep sands of the Outer Banks, so my off-roading will be more limited than the current vehicle.

Well I pen striped my Rivian 6 days after I got it and loved every minute of it lol! After being in a Model 3 for 3 years, the first thing I wanted to do, (and why I got a Rivian in the first place) was to go offroad and haven't stopped since. I plan on christening my Scout on the same trail and undoubtedly it will suffer the same fate 😅

You and I have the same plan. The first thing I plan to do after getting my Terra is sign up for an off-roading course in my area so I can take it out in the woods and learn its limits. If I can't get a protective wrap on it before the trip, so be it! 😄

All this talk of trail pinstriping gives me anxiety just thinking about it.

I'm the opposite, it gives me anxiety not having some trail scars! Once those first ones happen, then I can relax. I treat my off-road vehicle VERY differently than my sportier cars though. I can count the times my Toyota has been actually washed (not just hosed down or rained on) on a single hand over my 16 years of ownership. Meanwhile, my sedan with 100k miles doesn't have a single scratch, door ding or anything of the sort.

Nope, I want to do it myself. That way I can pick a really striking color (or color combo) so it stands out even more! After all, this is what I am working on right now...

Pinstriping comes with or without bouldering and rock crawling! Although it does make me cringe in the R1T... Did you get PPF or no?
