Repairs far from Scout service shops?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Hello - Newbie here, just reserved my place in line for a Terra Harvester last night. Because of where I live, Anchorage, Alaska, I’ve been on the fence about an EV for awhile. You see them often around Anchorage (Alaska’s largest city) ~300k population, but there are few charging stations around the state. So, because of that, and not wanting to have multiple cars, I’ve been hesitant about getting an EV. However, the off road capabilities of the Scouts paired with the extended range option and price point pretty much sealed the deal for me. I’m also aware of the need for cold weather mitigation and I think this can be managed very well.

I just have one remaining concern…I’ve seen mention of 80% of repairs not requiring a trained tech, but what about this remaining 20% of repairs that may need a specialist? Assuming Scout wouldn’t set up a service shop here, how would I get repairs done, especially those under warranty? Would the Volkswagen dealership/service center have trained techs?

Edited to add: I think this issue would apply to a lot of owners, throughout North America, that are far from a Scout service shop.

Welcome to the community.

Considering Scouts big plan and saying of being a 50 state vehicle. I would assume that they will have a service shop up there by 2030. The pan is to have if i remember correctly by release they want to have 25 facilities in 16 markets. And by year 2 they will have 57. And by 2032 they will have 100 facilities. For people farther than 45miles away they will offer mobile repair.

Oh that’s unexpected but great! Thank you! We often get overlooked for stuff like that but our summer tourism industry is huge and any road tripping Scout owners coming up to Alaska might appreciate a shop like that too.

And thank you all for the welcome! I’ve never reserved a car before, much less years in advance, so pretty excited to get my hands on one of these. If I’m able to get one in 2027/2028 I hope Scout Motors can bridge the gap somehow until they have a service shop up here…just in case. In the meantime I’ll browse the forum, it’s pretty cool to be a part of a community seeing the features on such cool cars as they are announced!
