Real Bench Seat

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

I’ve owned vehicles with the old school bench seats, and newer vehicles with bench seat/flip down console, it’s NOT the same when the middle section is stationary, it’s VERY uncomfortable.
I’m begging you PLEASE
bring back the original design, 50/50 split adjustable or all three adjustable.
Thank you
Good suggestion and welcome to the community!

The concept shows the driver and passenger are independent from the center
Here’s pictures my husband took at Nats that shows the back of the bench seat. I think it’s easier to see from the back.

That is a "pre-production" version of the bench seat - I don't think that is what we will be getting.

I'm guessing there will be a lot more people looking for "fold-down / console version" in the center that we see in most pick-ups with bench seats today, which is more like a 60/40 split adjustable bench or a "40/20/40"

I’m not quite sure wheee to put this, but here seems like an okay place.

Do we think there will be any difference in price between the console seating and bench seating?

I don’t think there should be any difference in price. It should just be a no cost selection. You x the box next to the type of front seat you want.

What do you all think?

I think that's a good idea...

re: TBL; you know what's gonna happen, right?

We'll all be at a Scout event in the future with folks that don't know the origin of TBL and someone will come up to you (standing next to your PBY Traveler) and ask the price of your custom butters!

I like the ideal of the front bench seat with fold down console option for holding drinks, elbow rest w/ padding, maybe USB plugs, and some extra storage. I'm fine with it being 2 pieces with the hard stationary backing that doesn't fold down like in the photos above. Most 2nd row bench seat with 3 point seatbelts I see them mounted either on the side frame pillars, connected to the top of the seat near the headrests, or a belt is extended from the center of the ceiling (not for panoramic or Scout cabana roof).

Seems like you will only have a lap belt only for the front bench seat with the current demo design? My current vehicles have an airbag in the inside bolster of the front seats. I don't know if the Scout will have inside front seat bolster airbags for the regular seats+console? Will bolster airbags be eliminated if you check the box for front bench seats? Plus, I don't know if the front passenger air bag is designed for both regular and front bench seats? Will there be a sensor in the bench section of the seat to deploy the 2-stage airbag?

Bench lap belt only and no sensor for deployment of passenger airbag would make me want to stick with the 2 front passenger with center console options.

TBL (:ROFLMAO:) -

From a manufacturing side, I don't see a huge difference in cost as they're still individual seats with rails, airbags, heating/ventilation, controls, etc and something not cheap in between. For dashboard airbags, I'm assuming they'd use a larger passenger airbag to cover the center occupant instead of using a separate airbag. In my layman's eyes, I see the seats as interchangeable in cost, so I don't see why there'd be an upcharge.

Now, if you want the refrigerated center console on your bucket seat option, I expect an upcharge.

Oh yes I agree, if you want that console to be refrigerated that would be extra. I don’t think I would get that. That’s where I keep my sunglasses, winter hat, gum, etc.

This sums up my thoughts as well

In this heat I like the idea of A/C sunglasses. My eye doctor told me last week the heat in our cars starts to destroy the edges of the tinted coloring and any coatings like UV or anti glare so being in A/C might be a good thing. Not to mention my nose/bridge would love to not have 120 degree metal placed on it when I start the car

My eyes are too light. Without my sunglasses already on, I probably couldn't stumble the 40' from my office door to the car in direct sunlight without looking like a drunken vampire. They stay with me, inside.

If they're putting in some kind of fridge plumbing/fan/condenser, I wouldn't mind seeing it hooked up to the seats for actual cooled seats instead of just ventilated seats.

Same. Mine stay with me all the time. My eyes instantly start watering on the walk to the car if it’ll larked outside on a sunny day.
