With the manufacturing plant for the frames decently behind the main plant, is the supplier sending some test frames for mules, or are you guys having to make those yourselves?

From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. This is getting real and I’ve been getting more excited by the month. We are close to 2027 already!
This factory is massive and just an incredible logistics feat. With @Jamie@ScoutMotors comments on the production line being swappable from EREV to BEV, I’m curious if we can get a firm response on whether when it comes time for reservations to order if that will be taken into account. I get the legalese speak, but I’m just wanting to know I can get in the line with a BEV Traveler.
Also hoping to know if the mules on the road are BEV, EREV, or a combination of both and any word on how they are performing…

Speaking of marketing clinic... Any chance we'll see a September update? Definitely want to see how the factory is going, but I'd love to know more about the construction of the second Traveler concept, and if any of the production sheet metal is on that one.
Also, there was a picture/video in one of the previous updates that showed a large erector set going up at the front of the paint shop. What was that? Looks like it was mostly skinned/covered in the July update, but there didn't appear to be a lot of usable open room inside all of the metal work.
We are working on the next update right now.
The second Traveler concept was built using the same molds and techniques as the original concept - overall easier that way for how we will use that vehicle. No connection to the units they are working on in the factory.
The building that you saw at the east end of the paint facility is a logistics and supplies area.

Sorry, missed this one. Exact builds when we start production are still being determined. Anytime a manufacturer spools up a brand-new factory and a brand-new vehicle (rare, actually), things start slow and simple. Not all models and trims will be available right away, but over time everything will come online at the factory. We announced that we're starting with Traveler first, but beyond that, nothing official yet. Our teams are trying to put together a couple of common builds we expect to be popular to start with, to ease into building a new vehicle on a new production line with new suppliers. We will have much more as we get closer to production. But yes, the production line can support both EREV and BEV models. We have been testing early test mules for well over a year now, and things are moving along nicely.

Question: Do all of our brothers and sisters in this group feel like Scout will use 2027 to build enough Travelers to supply all Service / Show locations with model that we can all drive and sample to decide exactly what option we are going to choose?Damn it!!!! Was so close!
Yup, but with a caveat. There will be very few service/show locations ready by then. With only 100 locations planned to be open by 2032, I'll be surprised if more than 12-16 are ready by launch. Let's hope they nail the launch and we don't need service...
That’s a really good question. I’m not counting on that. At some point will they be like Rivian where you can make a reservation for a time slot to test drive, sure. In the beginning if we want to go first I have a feeling we may be ordering without a test drive and I’m totally willing to do that. That’s part of the reason I’m driving all over the country to see them.
So far my husband and I have driven from our home in Central Illinois to Scout events in Ohio, Chicago, South Carolina and the. We will be going to the event in North Carolina in 10 days.
Oh my goodness I just added it up. After our trip to NC this month we will have driven over 4000 miles to see the Scouts!
From what I recall, I believe Scout has said they will have 25 service centers in 16 major markets by launch. The last thing they want to do is sell a vehicle to someone who can't get anywhere near a service center. As for what cities those service centers are located, @cyure posted a picture (thanks again for all her and her husband's pics!) that appears to have a list of all the service centers Scout plans, though I'm guessing that's through 2032. I believe he numbers in parenthesis next to them represents the number of locations planned for that area. If I were a betting person (I'm not), I'd bet Scout will focus on the largest markets. These are the 15 largest markets in the US (or close to it): NYC, LA, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, DC, Philly, Miami, ATL, Phoenix, Boston, San Fran, Seattle, Minneapolis, Denver. Add in Columbia, SC and you get 16. If you were to throw those on a map, you'd see they conveniently are fairly strewn about the US without any massive gaps. Are there gaps? Yes, but those will be filled in over time.
Unfortunately, I'm not counting on it either. I'd love a test drive, but I really don't think that's going to happen. At that point, I just need to get out and see the colors. For me, I want one of these color shifting ones (pacific mist or silo green) and you really need to see them in the light. @cyure is showing amazing dedication will all the miles she and her husband are putting on to see these!
