Headlight & DRL Color Temperature Changed?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Is it just me or has the color temperature changed on the front headlights and DRL? I'm looking back and old photos and videos and it clearly looks like daylight (5000K) but in this recent video its clearly warm or soft white (2700-3000K). Did they change the lights or you think its in a different mode where the color temp changes? If we can control the color temp that would be an interesting feature I've never even heard of in another vehicle.

It’s so funny you asked this today because my husband sent me the pictures he took at Nationals of closeups of the front lights to post tomorrow. So I’ll post them here and in my Nationals thread as well.

He took two closeups of the Traveler front headlight. One at 8:49 in the morning and one at 1:33 in the afternoon. The one he took in the morning looks more amber and the one in the afternoon looks more white. The Terra closeup was taken at 9:11 in the morning at it looks more white to me. He went back through the day taking pictures of the same things as the light was changing, in the morning they had both big garage doors open and then the closed one. So the lighting did change throughout the day.

All this to say I don’t know the answer but we got different hues on the headlights between models and at different times of day.

I hope the DRLs are warm like a comfy bed with a feather duvet on a cold winter morning, but white and clean like Bolivian marching powder at night.

That’s very descriptive. Another one of those things we have to have patience for.

After people start getting their Scouts we will need an owners circle section on this forum. We are all going to have so many questions for them. 😹

Absolutely and I’m giving some of us OG’s credit because early on we pushed for a warmer color light and I don’t know about everyone else but I love the warmer light color

I mean, is it really that difficult to offer 2700K-6500K tunable white controlled by software to cover personal preferences?

EDIT: Looking back, @dleepnw mentions that... "If we can control the color temp that would be an interesting feature I've never even heard of in another vehicle."

Tuneable temperature settings for lighting has been around for years in pretty basic bathroom makeup mirrors, and reading lights. Certainly seems doable, and inexpensive.

Would be cool to have a 5000k and 25-2600k so those who want cool blue can and those that want warm can too. Gives them 2 different looks

Maybe a setup where you can choose between: Warm, Neutral, Cool & Cold - 2,000K-10,000K
After doing a little research I found this helpful table on headlights.
