First adventure with the Scout Traveler From Scout The America

After receiving the Scout The America Others Pass By booklet from Scout Motors, I got inspired to map out a chill weekend getaway from Massachusetts to Litchfield Hills, CT, as well as the other New England Areas.


Quick details:

• One-way distance: ~170 miles
• Round-trip + local exploring: ~400 miles total

Charging is super easy — no DC fast charging needed at all. One overnight L2 top-off at the destination (plenty of ChargePoint and lodging options in the Litchfield area) is all it takes. You’ll roll back home with plenty of battery left.

ABRP already has the Scout Traveler and Terra profile available (245 Wh/mi reference consumption), which made planning straightforward and realistic.

This looks like a perfect low-stress first trip once the Scout arrives. Anyone else using the booklet for trip ideas or planning New England runs?

Cool thread. Nothing specific but planning to hit Boston this fall from PA in the RZ so that will be our first long trip in EV. May use the booklet for ideas for a short stop along the way. Started glancing last week then got busy. Will see what happens as we get closer

245 Wh/mi is Tesla model 3 efficiency territory (over 4 miles per Kwh) When I checked ABRP the reference consumption was 576 Wh/mi. That is hopefully a very conservitive guestimate. They also estimate the battery to be 180Kwh which equates to 1.9 miles/Kwh. I'm hoping the vehicle is more efficient that that. Like @SpaceEVDriver says, larger batteries significantly change the driving dynamic and they are much harder on trails as well. @Jamie@ScoutMotors can you work your magic and give us the neighborhood of 2.5 miles/Kwh from both vehicles?

I liked the suggestion to hit up the Berkshires (there were some other places in this area that I hadn’t ever heard of that I’d never have thought about). I know for sure that one of my first Scout adventures is to Penobscot in Maine to, uh, kind of stealthily deposit some of my dad’s remains in the river in accordance with his wishes. That was one of his favorite places. We’re holding out for the Scout specifically to do this.

While we’re at it, can we standardize on mi/kwh? It’s analogous to mpg, and it makes life easier since we pay per kWh. Everytime someone speaks in wh/m I have to do division in my head.
