We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.
Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

First rounds will have issues. You need to be prepared for that. It’s not if-it’s when!
Personally I would rather purchase a vehicle that is not software defined. When I see "software defined" what I see in practice is a vehicle that ships incomplete, and then gets regular software updates that I may or may not want. Just sell, or lease, me something that gets me from point A to point B, perferably comfortably, safely, and without requiring me to futz with a touch screen. I'll pay more for a vehicle if the manufacturer has to send me $1000 every time they have to update the software.
It's much more noticeable when there is a huge panel height difference from one to the next, that and color are the two biggest factors. Most people will never notice it and I use to have to point these kinds of things out after collision repairs. This one of my top examples I would use when I worked for Chevrolet dealer. The level of light, the angle, panel height, and color can do a lot. Just look how different the quarter panel looks to the door.
The good news with Scouts is it looks like most of the panels are pretty much level and there shouldn't be any major variations between panels, and best of all very little plastic to metal panels. Other than the charging and Harvester doors of course.
The Land Rover San Diego dealer more or less across the street from MCAS Miramar literally has, or had, a simulated off road course on their lot. At least it was there circa 2005 when I looked at used Discoveries and apparently in 2013 when this photo was posted at Yelp. Not sure if it still exists:
That's a neat display. I wonder if it is for the kids to play with? If so, great idea.
BMW’s off road course down the road from SM has a very solid short, offroad course that lets you experience every aspect in a matter of 15-20 minutes. Based on Scout mountain I suspect SM’s course will be even more impressive

Interesting article, but Slate and Telo are competitors with each other, not Scout.

The all-new Rivian R2 EV SUV is smaller and less expensive than the R1S. The R3 electric hot hatchback is still coming, along with other future Rivian pickup truck and crossover models.
I don't feel like Slate and Telo are direct competitors. The Telo is kind of a micro truck for the urban US market. They may not be as expensive as Scout, but they are not aiming for the budget market either (IIRC, >$40k base price). That base price sacrifices battery size (and about 100 miles of range), and is not the dual motor version. Add in Trim levels - and a lot of Telos are going to exceed $50k. Slate is primarily aiming for the budget market - and the only reason they are smaller than a full sized truck is to cut costs. As a budget vehicle, if they hit their prices - I don't see many people buying loaded ones (although I do expect them to nickle and dime every penny from customers - will AC be extra, or a subscription?).
I live in a full sized truck culture. But have lived in the city before. Can not say I enjoy trying to park an F250 downtown - or even drive on some urban streets. So I can appreciate what the Telo is attempting, just not sure how large their market is going to be at their price level. It will be convenient, but might end up being priced out of the blue colar market. But if priced right, I could see my brother-in-law getting one as a dog mover. It could be a hit as a micro EV minivan - maybe even what the Buzz could have been.

In all honesty, the Telo interests me, the Slate does not. But that interest is tempered. I don't know how well the US market will accept a cab forward vehicle. Likewise, Telo seems to me like a LOT of other vehicles that I watched that did not have manufacturing backing and eventually just faded away. It just felt like the business plan was to sell the business, or sell the idea - not the vehicle.
