Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Solid State Reality, or Venture Capitalist Scam?
11C charging to full in less than 10 minutes without active thermal management is wild.

Looks like they are not as close to Vaporware as I thought.

More 3rd party validation to come.

Scaling will be the most critical step in making it a reality.

Looks like another validation test will be coming next week.

Scam.
The CEO is the same one who last year announced “the most advanced ai ever” and it turned out to be vaporware.
The claim of 400 Wh/kg is physically impossible for the chemistry claimed. And they didn’t even build their “5 kWh model” big enough to fit the required number of cells that sits next to it—they can’t even do basic volume calculations to get their scammy junk the right size.

The test only tested the easiest to meet claimed specifications (charge rate), and the cell that was tested didn’t meet all of the claims (it required more cooling than claimed). A NMC or LFP battery could make it through that test in the same way. And, in fact, the specifications of the cell are closer to NMC than the claimed solid-state chemistry.
Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought they achieved faster charging speeds when they removed one of the cooling plates?

The test will be longevity. Solid State batteries tend to be brittle. Call me when they have tens of thousands of miles on real roads. Preferably in Michigan.....

Since we're talking about Frunks, what do we honestly expect to carry in the frunk of the Scout? I feel like it's a cool thing I'd never use. Maybe a cooler?

You can sit on it like a tailgate, carry groceries/reusable bags, if you have a Traveller you can put dirty stuff in there and not put it in the cabin. You will regularly forget about it and then wonder how you could ever live without it.

If Jeep made a BEV Wrangler with ~300 miles range, I don’t think I could stop my partner from buying one. Despite my distrust of Stellantis.
My 12-year old daughter wholeheartedly agrees. If Stellantis can make it happen they have a guaranteed sale (assuming she keeps up her end with grades, ballet, band, chores, etc).

The test was VERY specific. They told the facility exactly what to test, and did not give permission to test ANYTHING else. While it does hold a certain degree of promise - by specifying only one aspect of testing (charging of a single cell), it does not answer a ton of other questions. It was at the very edge of being legitimately an independent test. Time will tell.
