Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

That would be great. Especially if it’s just the right size to remove from the carrier and store in the frunk when necessary.

You need to create a new thread with that in the Suggestion Box:

  • The backpack needs to be sized to fit in the frunk.
or
  • The frunk needs to be big enough to store the backpack.

Okay now I have questions. I get it would be great for that box to fit in the frunk, but the tire can’t. It’s not big enough. So where are we putting our tire? And if you put the backpack in the frunk are you driving with the tire carrier on and empty? Just trying to understand the logistics.

There you go being all logical about things. First you give up on the 35-inch tires because of range concerns. Now you bring up logistics of the backpack. Next you are going to abandon PBY. Who are you, and what have you done with the real @cyure?

But seriously - I am pretty sure I remember that Scotty said the Terra would not have a tire carrier option. The backpack looks like something that will be customizable for holding Scout stuff, like the toolbox in the bed of the Terra. If so, some of us with Terras would like to get the backpack and put it in the frunk so it doesn't take up space in the truck bed (like the tool box).

Ha! Never giving up on my PBY dream! Did you see the pictures I posted. I got the Gemini AI to change some of the pictures my husband took to PBY. GORGEOUS. I honestly don’t know what I will do if they don’t have PBY.

Ah you were talking Terra. I think @SpaceEVDriver is looking at the Traveler to replace their Mach E. Makes sense tho for the Terra if you could have that box fit in there. I’m hoping for a luggage set that fits in the frunk of the Traveler like a puzzle and takes up all the space.

And if you didn’t see the PBY pictures I posted here you go.

And then I did this to see what PBY looks like with bronze wheels. And look at that stripe graphic that Gemini did. I love it!

As I understand it, on the BEV, 33” and smaller tires would fit under the rear of the Traveler. I don’t see any need for a 35” tire for my uses. While I do enjoy off-roading, I have never needed more than a 32” tire to do the kind of off-roading I do.

The backpack appears to be smaller than the 35” tire.

See photos and note how the tire protrudes higher above the window lip and down to the rear bumper:

Therefore there’s a chance (I don’t know how good of a chance) that while the 35” tire won’t fit in the frunk, the backpack will.

I would not always drive with the backpack in the frunk. I would likely only put it in there if I’m camping in bear country and the backpack was carrying food, or for similar reasons.
