We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

    How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

I for one am a huge fan of Torx screws/bolts. Never stripped one in my life compared to untold numbers of Phillips and even some flatheads. I bet they are also easier for robots to use.
Phillips head screws were originally made for GM for Cadillac. I’ve stripped every screw type at least 3 times or more in my life. The only one I haven’t vet is Robertson. Which they were used on the Model T, founding the production line.

This is why we use Robertson screws here. Philips head sucks and you can always tell when something was made in the US vs Canada because the Canadian thing will have the superior Robertson screws while the American thing will always have dumb Philips head screws. They're the worst after flat head. Ford famously chose Philips over Robertson so that's why cars (and airplanes) all use Philips. That was a bad decision.

@Jamie@ScoutMotors if my Scout is gonna have special bolts, is a tool kit coming with my Scout for free? And will Scout be using this VW Umbrella Factory Standard?

I would not worry about this too much. VW mainly uses Torsion (TZ) bits and triple square (XZN) bits.

Just about any decent screwdriver bit set will come with TZ bits. The XZN bits are usually used with a socket wrench rather than a bit driver, so are not common in even the larger bit sets. But you can buy a full set of the XZN bits for less than $20.

I just hope it is all metric. I am American, but feel comfortable enough in my skin to support metric.
 
This video explained how it worked. I mean one of the gauge cluster options reminds me of what I see on my Apple Watch. It’s crazy. This video made it sounds like it’s working with the car manufacturer and some stuff the phone is providing and some stuff the car is pushing through to be shown on the screen at the same time. I’m not sure how I feel about it.


The phone will get access to various functions of the car (which presumably will be decided when the auto maker and Apple collaborate on implementing CarPlay Ultra) and that’s how the driver will be able to implement control those functions through CarPlay. Even functions assigned to hard physical controls can interact with CarPlay.
 
To be fair this is a GR Sport trim kinda like M Sport for BMW. So just cosmetics, suspension tuning and a little bit of stiffness. A full fledge GR will likely not happen.
I read they put summer tires on it. I mean we went out and got all seasons on our Supra pretty quick after we got her. I’m sure there are people out there excited about it but it just doesn’t make sense to me.

When you buy any of their other GR cars you get a free track day. I wonder if they are going to do that with this one.

I don’t think so with this model. It’s just going to be any GR model like the 86, Supra and Corolla. Once those get a new generation and the Celica and MR2 come out they’ll still offer it
