Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Without access to the elements required to make EV motors and batteries, as well as storage batteries for the grid, I feel like we'd still be reliant on other countries to a greater extent. I think that's a big reason behind the Greenland push- to allow us better access to certain minerals that are mostly provided by China.
We have some of the worlds largest lithium deposits right here in the USA.

McDermitt Caldera

Now estimated at 19 million metric tons officially by the USGS, though the
McDermitt Caldera study suggests this could double to
40 million Mt as more claystone is classified.

We can figure out the rare earths stuff, but it’s not all doom and gloom.

The German publications love their headlines and "sources say" articles - it all makes for good headlines people click on….But I will let you all know as quickly as I can if there are any official changes or major announcements.
Did you know about the delays when you wrote this? Did you get in a little dig at the German publication when you knew there they were accurate Jamie? 🧐

I'm still confused. What delays? Scout has always said production was projected to begin in 2027. It's still projected to begin in 2027. They never promised anyone they would have their vehicle in 2027. And anyone paying attention knows that the first quarter is production ramp-up and calibration.

There's a ton of FUD about rare earths and China, much of it propagated by the O&G industry and the scammy "space mining" "industry."

China's refinement capacity far outstrips any other country, but they get their raw materials from all over the world.

Rumors. Gotta love them rumors

Not shocked. I’ve been hearing about this for a while now. Their EV craze was gonna start to fall.
It will fall some but as battery tech keeps getting more cost effective the prices will level out and the charging infrastructure will continue to improve. iCE vehicles will eventually go the way of the dinosaurs

I was wondering why used GX550 prices are still around $90k when I was looking this past weekend, and after doing some digging I learned that dealerships are circumventing markup rules from manufacturers. They will take a brand new unit and use it as a "loaner" AKA a managers wife drives it for a month, so it can't be sold as new anymore. Then they price it however they want.

I am sure it isn't just limited to the GX550s but I am not sure if finger wagging from the FTC will do anything about practices like that.

So long as there are corrupt people there will be work arounds. I’m at the point I’ll drive 200 miles. More fun to email every dealer within 200 miles and tell them best price for exactly what I want gets my business. That said we tend to be Honda/Acura and my cousin sells for Rahal outside of Harrisburg who is fair decent but so long as I stick with those and he’s there I avoid 90% of the BS factor. That said I’m kinda tired of Hondas and Acuras.

We bought our three Subarus in Co Springs (400 miles) and my PHEV Sportage in Pueblo CO(350 miles). They didn't screw us while the Albuquerque dealers sure try to.
I was about to buy a 2025 Ranger from a Co Springs dealer(Phil Long Ford) but the local turds swiped it away and wanted me to pay $47k vs the Phil Long price of $40.8k! It's sitting in the local showroom cause I told them FO.
Phil Long would have also payed $200 towards airfare, bought me dinner, and paid for an overnight stay. I'm so pissed at these local clowns now.
I bought a used 2024 until I can get my Terra
